| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2024 | 3 Welcome to November, a month of gratitude and celebration of the year past, a time to gather your friends and loved ones and settle in for the cold winter nights. But, that doesn't mean we stop socializing! There's a lot to do in November, starting with the Fall Craft Fair on Nov. 1 and 2 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Food & Beverage has introduced some great new menus in the Lounge & Restaurant and football continues in the Sandwedge. These are just a few ways you can celebrate during this month of Thanksgiving As we look back at 2024, there is much to be grateful for in our beautiful haven of Sun Lakes. Clear air, very little pollution, and wonderful neighbors who support each other and work together to bring laughter and joy into our everyday lives. Yes, just like any community, we have our challenges, but they are the exception, not the norm, for which we are grateful. There is power in gratitude. When we express our gratitude, our outlook becomes more optimistic. We are more empathetic and our emotions become more positive. Psychology Today says it can even improve your sleep! So, what are you grateful for? During this past year, we have had many exciting additions and improvements. The first quarter started off with the approval of the Reserve Replenishment Assessment and the finalizing of the plans for the Lounge expansion. After several delays waiting for permits from the city, construction on the Lounge expansion began in the spring. During this construction, we opened the Lobby Bar which was very popular and well attended. Spring and summer are when Sun Lakes really comes to life. The pools open, there's music on the Veranda and everyone is ready to get back outside and enjoy the Sun Lakes lifestyle. We started work on the indoor pool area in the spring and now have a fully-renovated South Clubhouse, from f loor to ceiling not only in the pool area, but throughout the entire clubhouse. The Reserve Replenishment Fund went into effect, bringing $2,190 with every new home sale. The Pass Action Group (PAG) cleared a major hurdle in the fight against the warehouse which was ultimately denied by Banning City Council in September. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to defeat this decision. This could have brought major changes to our quality of life and lifestyle. This is truly something for which to be grateful! The Restaurant has been upgraded with new carpeting, paint, and artwork. The Lounge expansion has been completed and is open for your pleasure. Please come out and enjoy our up-scale lounge and restaurant for the holidays. Which brings us to the present. In November, we celebrate Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. The Restaurant will offer a beautiful Thanksgiving feast for those of you who don't want to cook; reservations will begin soon. Sun Lakes is taking on a festive, holiday air and the Board wishes all of you a Happy Thanksgiving! "Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for." ~ Zig Ziglar Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Gary Burkel, Don Day From the Master Board
