Here we are in GINGERBREAD season! I am looking forward to uncrating all my special gingerbread items this month (I am sure they are already out). As a mom I have tried to jam all those favorite holiday bucket list items before the month is over. As my son is getting ready to graduate in the spring, I feel the need to hold tight to all the traditions. The Hometown Holiday event on Dec. 14 is the perfect event to invite your families here to celebrate the holidays. Treats, crafts, Santa and this year we have an extra special treat from up the road. Our neighbors at SoCal Minis will be bringing out some of their mini horses as "reindeer in training." We are so lucky to have them, usually at this time of year they are preparing to be in the Rose Parade. The Golf Cart Club will have their parade at 5:30 pm and the Vintage Voices will perform at their Free Christmas concert in the Ballroom at 7 pm. The Bid Whist Plus Club is presenting a Classical Holiday Concert on Dec. 21, this should really put you in the holiday spirit. The Social Committee will wrap up the year with a spectacular Pirate themed New Year's Eve on the 31st. The holiday season can be very special for many, but for some it is a reminder of a different time maybe a happier time. I don't want you to think that in all my silliness and holiday cheer that I don't see you. I am giving out free holiday hugs in the month of December if you need one! As many of you know, Rick Ruth is retiring. After the General Session Board meeting Dec. 11, we will have an open reception in the Ballroom to wish him well on his retirement. When I started here five years ago, I walked in the office and Rick welcomed me by telling me they prayed for me. I was so touched. He has been a kind and gentle leader as he answered ALL my questions of how to work in an HOA.
