It's beautifully decorated and a place of calm during this busy time. The Computer Room with the expanded collection of seasonal puzzles is there for your enjoyment, too. This month, one of our library committee members, Lynn Voorheis, is giving YOU the gift of a book review: What you are looking for is in the library by Michiko Aoyama Ms. Aoyama, in a short-story format, shares the life-changing experiences of five library patrons who range in age from recent college graduate to retiree. When asked by the reference librarian – What are you looking for? –the librarian provides them with relevant books for their initial request. But she also recommends a seemingly irrelevant book with a handmade "bonus gift" to each which initiate their transformational journeys. Their individual stories of self- exploration are cleverly interwoven, reflecting the serendipitous connections formed throughout life. Inspired by the book jacket, "This inspirational tale shows how by listening to our hearts, seizing opportunity and reaching out we too can fulfill our lifelong dreams. Which book will you recommend?" I would recommend What you are looking for is in the library. Another gift to you is from resident author, Nathan Church, who also is a member of the Library Committee. Come enjoy his special Author's Talk on Dec. 4 at 2 pm in the Ballroom and enjoy a treat! Consider donating some of the current books, puzzles, and magazines that YOU have received and enjoyed this year to gift your Four Seasons neighbors. Remember that all materials in our library, except for the furniture, have been donated by our residents! We sincerely thank you. Finally, looking ahead to 2025, here are 10 Resolutions to consider: (1) Read a non-fiction book or biography occasionally; (2) Promptly return completed books; (3) Donate your older books directly to a public library or another location; (4) Donate complete puzzles; (5) When pulling books from the shelves to look over, please put ones you don't want in the book return boxes; (6) Don't read library books in the pool or hot tub, please; (7) We appreciate hardcovers with book jackets; (8) Respect all reading preferences; (9) Thank helpful volunteer library committee staff; (10) Please share your ideas for improving the library in our Suggestion Box. ~ Lynn Voorheis and Betty Crase I joined the committee early January, 2024. I was amazed at how little I knew about what it takes to operate our community. It's been 12 years since Sandi and I moved here, and I have never really paid attention to what's going on behind the scenes to maintain our beautiful community. As I started attending meetings, I learned just how much work is involved. Here is just a few of the items we accomplished this year: • Street repair, seal coating in certain areas, and asphalt coring samples completed to help us plan the future maintenance of our streets. • Repaired pool equipment, water fountain in front of Lodge and solar water panels to heat our pool. • Replaced HVAC system at The Lodge. • Added additional security cameras and water heater in the Bistro kitchen with tankless system. • Reduced, reconfigured, and upgraded the computers in the Computer Room. Thank you to the management team from FirstService Residential, the volunteer leadership team, and committee members.
