14 | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | DECEMBER 2024 | Yoga is currently every Friday, from 9 to 10 am in North Town Hall. Yesi, the instructor, does a fabulous job with all levels of Yoga expertise. Yesi brings nine years of yoga experience and two years of teaching. Yesi's focus is on Hatha yoga, a gentle and nurturing style of practice. For those that are new to Yoga or have any flexibility issues, a chair can be used in addition to a mat. There is plenty of room for more to enjoy the wonders of Yoga for flexibility, mental fitness or just getting out of your home to meet others. Mats are available if you don't have your own! Come join us and feel great again! At our November meeting, artists and craftspeople designed door hangers of their choice. It was fun to see the unique creations by our members! Looking ahead, on Dec. 18, members will have a potluck to celebrate the holiday season! We have meetings from September through May on the third Wednesday of each month. The Art Room is open every Wednesday from 1 to 4 pm for our creators to work on their projects. On Thursdays, Kathy Pickett teaches Watercolor classes: Intermediate and Advanced, 9 am to 12 pm; beginners, 1 to 4 pm. Our Art Room is open for Art Gatherings on the third Friday of each month. Almost all art projects are welcome, but please, no solvents. The Senior Knitters & Crocheters of Menifee have been busy these past few months. We have made 200 afghans, lapgans, and small blankets to donate to the SCCA. For those in need or shut-in (home bound) who would like one, please let the SCCA know before they deliver Thanksgiving dinners so they may include it. Please enjoy. If you are interested in joining our Club, we meet every Tuesday in Civic Hall, 11 am to 3 pm. If you don't know how, we will be happy to teach and help! Thank you and happy holidays! Yoga Art & Craft Guild Knitters & Crocheters Remembering Andy Abeles The Twirlers Square Dance Club has lost an amazing member. Our dear friend and Core resident, Andy Abeles, passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 6, at the age of 76. Andy was instrumental in many ways for our club and for the Southern California Square Dancing community. He had been square dancing since 1984. In addition to being a Mensa member, he was a professional photographer, ran a successful videography business, and was a realtor in our area. Andy and his lovely wife, Lorie Abeles, met in 1988; married on Aug. 18, 1990; and moved to Sun City in December 2011. They have a lovely grown daughter, Ellie (also goes by Betty). Within the Core, Andy had many friends. He had such a great sense of humor and genuinely liked people. Andy referenced Abraham Lincoln's words of "I don't like that man. I must get to know him better." And get to know them he did! Andy, you and the laughter you spread will most definitely be missed by not just your fellow Twirlers, but by all your friends in the Core! Sun City Twirlers
