26 | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2024 | Rehearsals for the holiday are almost complete. It's time to perform. The members of the Choral Society have been working very hard to prepare for the concert on Dec. 8 in Abravanel Hall at 2 pm. The doors open at 1:30 pm and there will be no saving of seats. Come early for the best seats to kick off the season with a joyous celebration of holiday music. This event always fills the Hall, so don't miss out. When we reach the limit in the hall set by the Fire Marshall, no more people will be able to be seated. Seeing as how we live in Southern California and it is in the middle of the afternoon, you won't be left out in the cold, but you will miss a great show. The music selection is excellent, the dedication of the singers is outstanding and, hopefully, the appreciation of the audience will be enthusiastic. In January, don't forget Do Dues Day. If you would like to be a part of our group and share the experiences, please join us. You don't have to be a singer as there are a lot of other things that are necessary to operate the Chorale and to put on the concert. We will commence rehearsals in early February for our Spring Concert. Our rehearsals are on Thursdays from 10:15 am until 12 pm. I sure hope you consider joining us. Come to a rehearsal and see if it is for you. New singers and volunteers to help with the Choral Society on and off stage are always welcome. Written by Jack Shabel Choral Society Another trip around the sun is almost done! It's been a year of many new members, new ideas, and new crafting…with some wonderful results! December is the month that our classes take some time off so that we can concentrate on our loved ones and friends. There is no meeting in December and no formal classes will be offered. Quilting support, however, will still be offered every Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 am in the Sewing Room; our Kneedlers (knitters) and Hookers (crocheters) will still gather every Tuesday from 3 to 4:30 pm; and on Tuesday evenings (6 to 8 pm) and Fridays (12 to 3 pm) several quilters, knitters, crocheters and sewers will get together for "Sew & Chats." January will bring our annual "Do Dues Day" which will take place on Jan. 11, 2025, in the Clubhouse. It's a great event that allows you to peruse all available clubs and sign up for new and/ or returning experiences. If you are interested in joining our club for 2025 before Do Dues Day, you can always drop off a check at the front desk. Our dues for 2025 will remain the same - $7 for the year. If you are interested in participating in our activities and are not sure who to reach out to for further information, please call MaryLu Belisle (952) 454-1931 for more information. Also, please visit our website http://ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing All are welcome to join us. Our meetings are held at 9:30 am in the morning on the first Thursday of each month…we look forward to seeing you! ~ Sharon Philippe Sewing Etc.
