| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2024 | 29 Pet Lovers Club On Nov. 9 the PLC had a great annual meeting with 31 in attendance. The members unanimously reelected the 2024 Board for two years ending Dec. 31, 2026. The Board members are Ellen Kippel as President; Mitchie Adams as Vice President; Karen Hasting as Secretary; and Elizabeth Westwater as Treasurer. The Board decided to raise the dues starting Jan. 1, 2025, to $10 per household. Our treasurer would love to receive your payment for 2025 dues, with any changes to that need to be made, prior to January 2025 Do Dues Day for ease of making deposits. Please leave your checks at the clubhouse. Elizabeth Westwater reported that we had $2,956.42 in our bank account. The PLC membership voted, and approved, donations to 13 local charities thanks to the generosity of our members throughout the year. Our fourth annual Presents for Pets for local North County Meals on Wheels Animeals clients were a success. Pictures will be in January OHCC Living magazine. Ellen Kippel still collects donated new and used dog and cat items for local charities. Donations should be dropped off at Ellen's house at 4909 Tilos Way. At our meeting we had a great presentation by the representatives from the outstanding training program, Love on a Leash Therapy dogs. Two OHCC residents have trained therapy dogs and a third is planning on training her dog. We are looking forward to a great year 2025 with the PLC. Written by Ellen Kippel and Karen Hasting December is the most wonderful time of year to trim your trees, both inside and outside. While the outside trees are dormant and bare branches exposed this is a perfect time for pruning. It's a quiet time in the garden for most other chores, allowing you plenty of time to enjoy family and friends during the holidays. It's also the perfect time to join fellow OHCC Garden Club members at our Annual Holiday Luncheon. The luncheon will be Wed., Dec. 11 in Abravanel Hall. As the year comes to an end, it is time to say thank you to our President for the past two years Linda Slayton. Linda did an amazing job leading the Garden Club and keeping us on track as one of the most active clubs in the village. She will still be active with the group leading our Special Projects. Taking her place as Co-Presidents will be Terry Chamberlin and Susan Hull-Patton, two very qualified current Board members. We look forward to the new year and new leadership in the Garden Club. The Garden Club has a private Facebook Group for members to exchange gardening information. If you are a current, dues-paying member of the OHCC Garden Club and would like access, send an email to Garden Club Member Services Liaison, Diane Bednarski; dianezbednarski@gmail.com.
