| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2024 | 39 Golf Club Well, 2024 zipped by in a hurry. It was a season full of wonderful memories and memorable golf shots. Let's review the last few events of the year, and hope for an even better year of golf ahead. On Oct. 7, Mary LaForte and Bill Nordberg won closest to the pin honors at The Links course. On Oct. 21 and 22, the last Special Tournament of the year was held. Thanks to Wealth Compass Financial for generously sponsoring this great tourney! Kudos to Beverly Taylor for her hole in one; and Alan De Carle, Betsy Crane, Mike Layne, and Barbara Ott for their closest to the pin heroics. And another big thank you to Judy and Peter Fry for managing our Special Tournaments. Sadly, they are retiring from their duties, so who of you would like to step up and take over for them next year? Guys and Dolls concluded its series of tournaments on Sat., Nov. 2. Congrats for Cheri Johnson for being closest to the pin and Rick Goodwin for his hole in one. The Golf Club's General Meeting took place on Wed., Oct. 9, with, of course, pizza and drinks being the incentive for their high attendance. A major thanks to Bob Fisher for his tireless work as Chair of Men's Golf. Bob's retirement makes way for Todd Albiston to take over the reins. Thanks Todd, you're the man! Also, much appreciation to Randy and Carla Royter for helping out with Golf Genius for the guys' tournaments. The Hole in One Aces for the months of July, August, and September were announced at the meeting. It's quite a list of some of our most excellent golfers: Marilyn Vettlesen, Mike Ross, Scott Taylor, Laura Yotter, Al Goodman, Ted Mitchell, Rich Halkyard, Jim Gilliam, Tony Gillett, Jim Resney, Mike Ball, Jim Shroyer, Matt Yotter, Sandy Geisser, Jim LaGregs, Dan Matthews, Natalie Sentz, and , last but not least, Bill Nordberg, who must have at least 30 or 40 aces by now. Way to go everyone! And finally, here's a shout out to the women who put on the Halloween Spooktackular tournament on Wed., Oct. 30. The women know how to have fun and devise a lot of clever activities for their tourneys. The men might learn a thing or two from the ladies about throwing joyful golf tournaments, just saying. Attached are three photos documenting their rhapsodic day. Happy Holidays everyone! Written by James Mulvey
