Woo hoo! We finally have fall weather and can start celebrating the holiday season. Our Fabulous Fall Foursome golf tournament was a great success. Gourmet Your Way catered a wonderful dinner and there was Sangria for everyone to enjoy. This was a step aside scramble with at least one woman on each team. The following were the winners: 1st Place: Jeff Van Haren, Dennis McKinney, Bob and Michele Walter; 2nd Place: Joanne Dixon, Donna Schein, Michael and Mo Farra. We awarded several places, so just about everyone received a little something. Thank you Shannon McKinney for helping set everything up. Dec. 7: YAH is dark in December, but we wanted to provide you with some information on a fun event you can attend with a group of your friends. This is not an official YAH event — Palm Springs Annual Christmas Lights Parade which begins at 5:45 pm. The parade takes place on Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs. The parade route is approximately 1.5 miles long and takes about 40 minutes for each entry to complete the route. The first unit steps off at 5:45 pm and the last unit will cross the finish line at approximately 8 pm. The best place to watch the parade is along Palm Canyon Drive from Ramon road to Tachevah Road. There is limited bleacher seating available. Please feel free to bring lawn chairs to sit along the curb on Palm Canyon Drive. You may bring blankets and your own food and beverages, however, NO ALCOHOL! You do not need a ticket. The parade was created by a small group of community minded individuals who believed it important to offer the Coachella Valley an event that would allow residents and visitors to celebrate the spirit and joy of the holiday season while at the same time creating a unique tourism event. Jan. 26, 2025: NFL Chili Cook-Off is back by popular demand. Cost is $5 per person. Please indicate on your check if you are bringing chili. If not bringing chili, bring an appetizer to put on a community table to share. This will be in the South Clubhouse. If there are events you would like to see Young at Heart put on, please email me at crystalwater@dc.rr.com. We would love to get some new ideas. We are looking for some new members for our Board. Get your checks in early as I clear out the roster of members who have not paid. Our Young at Heart Board wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year.
