The theme of her light-hearted book, Europe a la Mode, is to put down the selfie stick and camera and stop to smell the roses as one travels. Spend an afternoon sipping coffee or aperitivos in a small cafe in Florence. Visit a local boulangerie in Provence and get to know the proprietors while sampling some regional pastries. Walk the narrow medieval byways in York Minster or browse tiny antique bookstores in London. Sample the spice markets in Marrakech and sip pho on the streets of Saigon. In other words, step out from behind the lens of your iPhone and actually experience the ordinary people and pleasures of the countries you are visiting. Club members had plenty of questions and comments for Linda after her talk and carried on a lively conversation with her even during the book signing. The Travelers Club will be dark in December 2024 and January 2025. We will resume our monthly meetings in February 2025. We invite interested travelers in Sun Lakes to join us on the third Saturday of each month starting in February from 10 am to 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. You may attend one meeting as a guest to check us out. Annual dues are $15. We invite guest speakers from the travel industry, share information with other Sun Lakes travelers, and socialize in a friendly, informal setting.
