| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2024 | 3 Joe Formino, our long-time community leader, turned 100 years of age on Nov. 2. Anita Lawrence coordinated a surprise golf-cart parade by his home. David Lara-Telez from Supervisor Gutierrez's office read a proclamation honoring Joe for his service. Congressman Raul Ruiz's 25th Congressional District also presented him with a proclamation. Three members of our HOA Board thanked him for his service to our community which included: founding member of the SLCC Charity Trust; HOA Board member; committee member; and Chairman of the District Delegate Assembly for numerous years. Thank you, Joe, for your dedication and commitment to our community. It appears that Joe has discovered the fountain of youth … community service. If you would like to partake in this endeavor, please complete the volunteer interest form and join one of our committees. At our October Open Session, the Board approved the 2025 Annual Budget. After four drafts and a town hall, as well as input from the FAC and PAC committees, we were able to arrive at a budget increase of $20 per month for a total of $385. This budget will enable us to maintain and enhance our amenities without an excessive increase in the HOA fees. The Board has received two RFPs (request for proposals) for their review. These proposals are from CCL Hospitality Group and Preferred Hospitality Group. These proposals pertain to our Food & Beverage operations only. The grand opening of our new expanded Lounge was on Oct. 30. It was a huge success with over 243 members attending and daily revenue of over $6,000. This was a result of a collaborative effort by many: FirstService staff Chris Mitchell, Jason Ewals, and project director Mark Schleiden; Kenny Rice, the general contractor from American Eagle; the current and prior Boards; the Restaurant & Lounge and Marketing Committees; and the furnishing and artwork coordinators Lori Hazelton and Michele Walter. We are confident that our amazing new Lounge will reduce the F&B subsidy and enhance the marketing of our community. New Restaurant & Lounge menus have been introduced and are quite tasty. So come on out and experience our new culinary offerings while socializing and being entertained in our stunning new Lounge (pictured below). With the new carpeting, painting, and artwork in the Restaurant as well as the Lounge expansion, SLCC is ready to welcome the holiday season. We celebrate our health, family, and friends, while enjoying life's journey in our beautiful SLCC community. The Board wishes everybody a safe and blessed holiday season. May everyone have a happy and healthy New Year! "… and it is beautiful to see people come together, especially during the holiday season."
