| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 | 39 Golf Club Cheers to 2025 and a new year of exciting golf at OHCC and around San Diego! The final Touring Amateur tournament at the Welk resort drew some epic results including a hole in one by Sandy Ackerman on #8, and four players in the Magic Circle, Robbie Sullivan, Bruce Barnum, Jim Gillian and David Shaw. We also had two skilled guys make hole in ones on Men's Day, Mike Stern on #18 and Nick Novellino on #11. Our last event of the year was our Holiday Golf Party run by Terry Chamberlin and her team, which was a huge success-thanks to all for a wonderful event! As we head into a new year, we can't say enough to thank Bob Fisher (inset) who is stepping away after serving as the Chair of Men's golf since 2017. Bob has prepared tee sheets, assigned starters, and scored and dispersed winnings for an estimated 600 tournaments, attended Golf Club board meetings while also working on the golf course committee through the reconstruction of our course/lake, not to mention seeing us through the pandemic. His tireless and positive attitude made him a priceless asset all while his wife Sue supported him and allowed him so much time to do this for our golf club with a smile. What is exciting is that we have a new Men's golf chair, Todd Albiston and his support team to move forward. Mike Bell continues to run the Niners each Tuesday, a fun and growing group. If you are new to golf and want to play tournaments this is your place! Golf tags for 2025 are available at the Clubhouse front desk and Golf club dues can be paid online thru our website or at Do Dues Day. We are looking for Special Tournament chairs for next year, if you'd like to host a tournament, reach out to Mike Guillory to see how you can help. We have over 500 members, all are welcome! Please share your ideas and help make our Golf Club the best it can be while we honor the past and look forward to the future of continuing to be the BEST club in OHCC! When you stop by our display that morning, we will have events for late January and through February, with a list of important dates throughout the spring and summer months.
