Happy New Year! I hope that your holiday season was safe and healthy. By the time this article is published the Mahjongg Club members will have had a Holiday Social organized by our Social Director Lynne Allen and her wonderful committee of volunteers. The American Mahjongg tournament will be held on March 22 this year. The Summer Social is scheduled for July 24, the Autumn Social for Oct. 3, and the Holiday Social for Dec. 18. Please add your name to the Volunteer list to work on any of the events in 2025. It is gratifying work that strengthens the social network of our club. The Club has room reservations for 2025. Our survey results indicated that Club members want open play time in the afternoon as well as in the evening. Monday afternoons from 1 to 5 pm have been reserved for members to come and play. Bring your set and a table covering and a few friends. Thursdays will be a big play day in 2025. Novice players who would like to play on any Thursday afternoon from 3 to 5 pm notify Drora Oren. Drora has agreed to coordinate novice players for this timeslot. Seasoned players who would like to play on any Thursday from 6 to 8 pm notify Christi Abshier. Table availability will be on a first reserved, first served basis. Saturday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm will continue to be available for practice games. Walk-in players of all levels are welcome on Saturdays as long as it is understood that this time is intended as a mixer of skills and Novice players do not bring a purse. In addition to knowledge, please bring patience and kindness whenever you play. Note: all Saturdays in April, July & October have been set aside for Basic American Mahjongg classes. We have taught 24 new players bridge and given many intermediate players some new modern ways to play in this past year! It's very rewarding to have new players joining our club. We always welcome new players to join us on Tuesdays from 5 to 7:30 pm and on select Fridays (second, fourth and fifth) from 1 to 4:30 pm.
