| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 | 35 Inspiration Hill As we walk the trail at Inspiration Hill, we are always impressed by the varied community inspirations as expressed on the Donor Bricks. The trail begins by honoring our pioneer OHCC Founders, and continues with those who so bravely served us. There are bricks honoring family members, beloved pets, and favorite universities. What is your inspiration? The HOA continues to take orders for your own personalized bricks. Fill out an order form at the HOA office, and include a check for $75. Your inspiration brick will help line the trail to the top of the hill! At the end of 2024, The OH Wine Tasting Club had just under 300 members. The nine Tasting Groups had between 28 and 39 members. If you are interested in joining the club, visit our table on Do Dues Day - Jan. 11, 2025. This year the OH Wine Tasting Club will host two events. The first will be a Dinner/ Dance on April 11 on the Lanai, and the other will be a general meeting to conduct the 2026 elections with a social in Abravanel Hall on Oct. 30. Each group conducts tastings each month except for the months that the full club hosts an event. Every member is required to host or present a monthly Tasting. Each group selects a coordinator to schedule the tastings and recruit hosts and presenters. Group members will receive an e-mail announcement of the monthly event. The flyer will provide the information about the tasting – the date and time, the host's address, who will be presenting, the theme of the tasting, and the cost to attend. Everyone attending the party must bring their own wine glass. To host an event, the member will provide a venue, usually their home, with adequate seating for the group. They will provide plates, napkins and utensils, but not wine glasses. The coordinator will let the host know how many people to expect by the weekend before the tasting. The presenter can choose wines from a local vintner, from a region of the nation or from a region of the world. Once they know how many people are attending, they will select several different wines and produce a document describing the wines. North County Wine and Total Wine & More aid in making the selections and providing information about the wines. The presenter will provide a write-up of the wines with tasting notes, the price of the wine and where it was purchased. The coordinator organizes the tastings, recruits' hosts and presenters, collects the tasting fees and takes care of the accounting to reimburse the presenter. Once the existing groups reach maximum capacity, new members for 2025 will be placed in a new group. An orientation meeting will be conducted, and the new group will select their coordinator. OH Wine Tasting Club is open to all residents of OHCC for an annual fee of $15. Written by Jody McDonough (760) 653- 8198, jodyzm@gmail.com Wine Tasting Club Music Lovers Happy New Year Music Lovers! The holidays are behind us as we embrace 2025 and are looking to a new year in music entertainment here at OHCC! As we enter our third year as a club, we look forward to bringing you some wonderful musical opportunities keeping both music makers and music listeners very busy! But the first thing happening in January is going to be keeping our base of fans and Music Lovers as part of our club. You are what makes our club important, significant and special! If you haven't already renewed your membership, or signed up as a new member, then we invite you to Do Dues Day at the Clubhouse, Jan. 11 at 10 am. This is the opportunity for all clubs and special interest groups to recruit and renew members into their ranks. It's a busy time so to make things go quickly for you as you roam Abravanel Hall that day, make your checks out in advance. The dues for our club remain at $10 per person, per year. This entitles you to many of our club- only events and discounts for certain celebrations. It also puts you on the mailing list and the first to be reminded of all the events for Music Lovers each month. Renewal and new member forms are also available now at the front desk so you can fill that out in advance too. Start your week off on Mondays by enjoying coffee and music in the Clubhouse lobby at Coffee House Monday where members of our club perform. Enjoy club events like the Villagers Concerts, Karaoke Nights and Special music performances throughout the year by special guests. Get ready to enjoy our second annual Musical Variety Show later this year. Our club is excited about what's coming up in 2025 and we want to make sure you are too! If you're not a member yet consider joining this year! We'd love to have you! Congratulations to our members celebrating birthdays this month! We hope you have a fabulous celebration! Nelson Agudelo and Louise Peterson, many happy returns! In the months ahead, look for music postings on the digital board, in emails and on posters for all the latest news about our club! In the meantime, in the interest of getting more music into our lives, there are some musical events coming up in our local communities to enjoy! https://www.songkick.com/metro-areas/11086-us-san- diego/2025.
