14 | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | JANUARY 2025 | Yoga for flexibility and friendship… Yoga is currently every Friday, from 9 - 10 am., in North Town Hall. Yesi, our instructor, does a fabulous job with all levels of Yoga expertise. Yesi brings nine years of yoga experience and two years of teaching experience. Yesi's focus is on Hatha yoga, a gentle and nurturing style of practice. For those who are new to Yoga or have any flexibility issues, a chair can be used in addition to a mat. There is plenty of room for more to enjoy the wonders of Yoga for flexibility, mental fitness, or an opportunity to meet others. Mats are available if you don't have your own. Come join us and feel great again! Yoga e Garden Club is Busy Planning for 2025 Happy New Year from the Garden Club! Our next meeting is Tues., Feb. 20 at 10 am. Sign in, enjoy refreshments, check out our plant table, view the Treasure Table, and visit with other members. Each meeting also has door prizes and a raffle. Meetings are the third Tuesday of every month, from September to June. Although we don't meet in July and August, we are busily planning our September to June year. We have many activities planned, including touring a local botanical garden as well as hearing from a beekeeper, Master Gardener, and Arborist and much more. Come join the fun and learn all you can to create a garden oasis in our desert community. We have a beautiful stained glass window to be raffled beginning in January. Tickets are $5 each, and the window will be displayed in January, February, and March with the raffle drawing in March at our regular meeting. Get your tickets now. Our home tour is planned for April, so don't miss out seeing what some of our members have planted and done to enhance their individual landscapes. There are so many gorgeous yards that are drought tolerant. If you're not a member, you can still sign up to take the tour and become inspired. Did you know that only one mature tree will absorb 48 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen in exchange? It's just another reason to plant a tree. We're all about teaching, learning, and working together to make our individual spaces at home as much a paradise as possible. With drought-tolerant landscaping (not just cactus), a yard can be transformed while using very little water. Come join our President Jennifer Lopez, co-Vice Presidents Jill Hardy and Valerie Gibson, and Treasurer Camille Susca to learn about the fun things we can do to beautify our surroundings. ~ Jill Hardy Garden Club We're ready for another busy year! Our Sun City Quilting Club continues to contribute to our community in various ways. Last year, the Club distributed hundreds of quilts and tote bags as well as dozens of stuffed critters to our foster children agency partners. Also, the Club, a chapter of the national Quilts of Valor Foundation, awarded 60 quilts to Veterans and those considered to be active- duty military. The latest ceremony was held on Veterans Day at our Memorial Garden where eight veterans were recognized. We anticipate 2025 will be an even more eventful year with our quilters working every Monday, from 10:30 am to 4 pm, in North Town Hall. We would love to have people visit us to see what we're working on and join us in our efforts or make your own. Next month, on Sat., Feb. 1, we will participate in a national Quilt of Valor event in Webb Hall. Quilters from surrounding areas will join us in making Quilts of Valor, and we hope to have an award ceremony in the afternoon. If you would like to nominate a veteran who has been affected by war, please go to the website and complete a nomination form: www.qovf.org. The nomination will be assigned to the group closest to that veteran. ~ Rose Rhoads, 951-533-7520 Quilting Club
