30 | THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2025 | HAPPY NEW YEAR! The Racquet Club Officers will remain the same for 2025. Pat Kight, Linda Kight, Herb Reynolds, Wendell Jackson and Karen Nichols. What kind of help is still needed? Volunteers to be part of a team to help with the decorating on one or all of our four dinners this year. Harriet Henderson will remain as the coordinator for these dinners which will be held quarterly starting in March then June, September and December, still on the second Saturday of the month. Volunteers will also be needed to set up the breakfast table for tournaments on the first Friday morning of each month. These jobs take just a small amount of time yet are very important to our club. Call Jeanne Bender at 949-295-5412 for more information on tennis or Karen Nichols at 619-550-8195 for Paddle Tennis. See you on the courts! Racquet Club By Karen Nichols, 619-550-8194 Happy New Year and Happy New YOU! We all need some inspiration and motivation for 2025, and we're here to help you kick off the year with some "25s" for 2025. If you want to meet 25 new friends, you can join us on the pickleball courts. We play for at least 25 minutes each day for at least 25 days each month. Some of us have played in 25 different places — indoor, outdoor, on a cruise, at the RV park, in the desert or in the snow — whether it's 125 or 25 degrees! Pickleball has many challenges. You can learn 25 new skills by watching 25 training videos or pro pickleball games on TV; you can try hitting 25 consecutive balls against the backboard or using the ball machine. And with all of this exercise, you will probably lose 25 pounds (or maybe 2.5 pounds) and need to buy 25 new outfits. And best of all, you'll be able to keep up with those 25-year-old pickleball players. We offer free lessons, and have paddles and balls for you to use, so you don't need to spend $25 or $.25 to join in the fun! Hope to see you on the courts soon. Cheers!
