From the Desk of David Matteucci Happy New Year to all. I'm not sure if when you read this the Old Year 2024 will have passed and 2025 officially is upon us. Whether it has passed or hasn't, a belated "Happy Holidays" (Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa). The New Year signals a new beginning. So, as we begin 2025 (wow, can you believe it!), for some of us, this date seems unreal. As we look back at 2024 and all that has taken place, there were two elections. There was ours here at The Colony for the HOA Board, where the incumbents were re-elected, so continuity continues. Although I was not on the ballot this year, I'm honored to have served going on three years representing the best interest of the community. The other was our National Election, which was highly charged, politically divisive, and I'm glad it's over. Regardless how you voted, it's time to move on and all come together as Americans and get down to business. We shall see how it goes. As the saying goes, "At some point in life, we've all parked in the wrong garage." Anyway, back to The Colony. The New Year brings new endeavors, projects and planning. As mentioned in a recent article, the Patio Improvement project is in the beginning planning stages with Architectural Design & Concepts. I'm sure all of you are interested in seeing what it looks like, and you will. There will be an upcoming Town Hall, which is tentatively scheduled for mid/ late January, for all to view. Stay tuned! Also on the list of new projects is the replacement and addition to the Bocce Ball Courts, yes, I said "Courts" as in two! So, for all you Bocce players and those who want to learn, there will be plenty of room for all. The refurbishment of the Auditorium is in its final stages and hopefully will be completed by this fiscal year end. Let's not forget about the Golf Course. As I see it, there is a shining light at the end of this long and winding road. I'm cautiously optimistic that 2025 will see a positive conclusion to this endless ordeal. Finally, as we look back on 2024 and forward to 2025, we have a lot to be thankful for. We live in a great community, safe and secure, with neighbor helping neighbor and activities galore. I want to thank all the committees, clubs and volunteers for their tireless work, and to all the entertainers who give their time, lift up their voices and make us laugh. The Colony's Got Talent all right! In closing, I leave you with this: Remember that not getting all you want, or what you want, is sometimes a wonderful blessing and a stroke of luck.
