30 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2025 | Here's hoping that everyone had a healthy, happy and restful Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah. The Sun Lakes Travelers Club will be dark in January as most of us are still traveling, entertaining and attending holiday events into the New Year. Regular meetings will resume in February. At our final meeting in November, we announced the winners of our year-long "Most Traveled" contest- the three categories being 1) Most Countries Visited; 2) Most States Visited; and 3) Most National Parks Visited. The winner in each category received a lovely seasonal candle by New York designer Harry Slatkin. Travelers Club member Suzy Hodgkinson won Most Countries Visited (60 plus Antarctica) and Most National Parks Visited (21). Club member Steve Kneass won Most States Visited (50 plus Washington DC). Congratulations also go to second and third place runners-up Janet Anderson, Sheron Watkins and Mike Dunn. This contest proved that Travelers Club members are definitely a well-traveled group! Last month, taking a break from their busy schedules, a group of Sun Lakes residents, including Travelers Club members, joined Four Seasons Travel Group members on a fun holiday shopping trip to Fashion Island and Roger's Gardens in Newport Beach. Several shoppers actually brought back live Christmas trees on the bus! A wonderful time was had by all. Sun Lakers are lucky to have two excellent providers of budget-friendly day tours located in our area. If you are new to So Cal or want to get to know the Southland better without having to hassle with traffic or parking, contact Joni of Four Seasons Travel Group at (661) 390-5512 or Jerry of Silver Lining Travel at (951) 390-5512. The Sun Lakes Travelers Club invites interested travelers in Sun Lakes to join us on the third Saturday of each month starting in February from 10 am to 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. You may attend one meeting as a guest to check us out. Annual dues are $15. We invite guest speakers from the travel industry, share information with other Sun Lakes travelers, and socialize in a friendly, informal setting. For more information, please text or phone Travelers Club President, Kori Garner, at (714) 287-8729 or email klmaverick77@gmail.com. Happy Travels and Happy New Year! Travelers Club Club member Helen Mitchell describing her recent Viking Cruise up the Mekong River in Vietnam. Club members viewed the famous Fashion Island Christmas Tree on a recent day trip with Four Seasons Travel Group. Most Traveled winners Suzy Hodgkinson and Steve Kneass.
