Happy 2025! New Year, new possibilities, new connections. This year, the African Heritage Connection Club (AHCC) is preparing to embark on a series of wonderful events and activities. Approved as a club in May 2024, the mission and vision of the AHCC is to celebrate, appreciate, and share the joys of our African heritage and common identity at Sun Lakes Country Club. Sun Lakers of African heritage come together to enjoy our common identity and historical interests through a variety of activities. These ongoing informational, inspirational, and social events keep us connected to each other and our shared history. We invite Sun Lakers to join AHCC at our Open House on Jan. 8, 6:30 to 8 pm, at the North Clubhouse. Join us to learn more about the benefits of AHCC membership and how you can become a part of our club. Part of our African heritage connection and our shared history is the AHCC Book Club, focusing on Black Literature. The AHCC Book Club has their first monthly meeting on Jan. 7 from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Atrium. The first book we will discuss is the novel James by Percival Everette. Expect a fabulous and informative time at one of our special events during Black History Month. On Sat., Feb. 22 at 11 am, we will be presenting "What's Really Going On," a collaborative special event with meaningful discussion on the impact mental and brain health has on older adults as we age. Membership forms are also available in the Main Clubhouse Lobby. You can always expect engagement, a little fun, a little game play, lots of camaraderie, and great information at our bi-monthly members meetings. Everyone is welcome.
