Our Board wishes everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season with friends and family. We had our very successful wine tasting event in November. Ten wines were presented from the Regions of Italy, France, Spain and Argentina. A description of each wine was provided, and a food pairing was prepared and served with each wine. We finished the night with a dessert wine which was served with a homemade Crème Brulee with blackberries. I would like to thank Suzi Robitzer, Sally Jo Schwartz, Theresa Van Haren, Shannon McKinney and Linda Spaulding for helping with the food, set up, serving, and cleanup. A big thank you to Ann Marie Hanko for engraving the wine glasses. I would also like to thank Bob Walter for helping me pour all the wines. A fun time was had by all. We are going to have events every other month this year. There seems to be so much going on, so we will give everyone a break this year. Hopefully this will work out the best for everyone. Jan. 26, 2025: NFL chili cook-off is back by popular demand. Cost is $5 per person. Please indicate on your check if you are bringing chili. If you are not bringing chili, please bring an appetizer to put on a community table to share with everyone. This event will be held in the South Clubhouse. March 15, 2025: Ides of March. Details to follow. May 4, 2025: Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament. Details to follow. If there are events you would like to see Young at Heart host, please email me your ideas. Finally, don't forget it's time to pay your dues for 2025. It is still only $10 per person for the year! Get your checks in early as I clear out the roster of members who have not paid. Please join the Social Sun Lakers for a scrumptious birthday dinner featuring tri-tip and gravy, baked potato, corn niblets, bread, and dessert on Fri., Jan. 17 at 5:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. After dinner, we'll be treated to music by Lisa Rose and Lori Bell. Unwind and enjoy their beautiful harmonies on soft rock and Motown hits or jump into the fun by singing along and dancing. What a fantastic way to start the New Year! Dinner prices for 2025 have increased slightly due to rising food costs and are $24 for members and $27 for guests. For reservations, write a check payable to Social Sun Lakers and deliver to Kymm Terlau at 5871 Brookside Dr. Annual Membership Dues are $15 and due now.
