| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2025 | 3 Happy New Year! As we move into 2025, we open a new book that is full of possibility. December was a whirlwind of excitement, with holiday parties, sharing time with friends and family, live music in our new Lounge and Ballroom, and all the joy and gratitude that goes along with the holiday season. January is a time to slow down, ref lect and plan. It symbolizes an end as well as a beginning, making it a doorway, a bridge from the past into the future. It holds hope for a fresh start, which is one of the reasons we make New Year resolutions. Now is the time to set intentions (resolutions) for the New Year and create steps (goals) to support and complete them. It's a time of excitement for what is yet to come. During this first quarter, steps are being taken to address the acoustics in the new Lounge. With the renovation, the city required that we remove the sound panels that hung from the ceiling in the dome as they were potentially hampering the sprinkler system. Management is working with a sound engineer to design some better solutions that will help dampen the sound in the Lounge. The Sandwedge is also receiving some enhancements. Management is installing sound absorbing panels on the wall behind the bar. At the same time, the pendant lights above the bar will be raised. All of this will happen in the first full week, Jan. 6-10, and the Sandwedge will be closed that Monday through Friday. The Lounge will be open its regular hours to accommodate you. The Board has been in discussion with two potential vendors to take over the management of Food & Beverage. They are CCL Hospitality Group, a division of Compass Group, and Preferred Hospitality Inc. There are several questions that residents have asked about this change, all of which are being taken into consideration as we continue our discussions. With Randy Robbins' resignation effective Dec. 31, 2024, the Board of Directors has accepted applications and will be conducting interviews on Jan. 14 to appoint someone to complete his term. A decision will be announced at the Open session on Jan. 22. The Homeowners Annual meeting is in April and includes the election of Master Board members with two Board member terms ending this year. Candidacy forms are available in the Administration Office during regular office hours. They must be completed and returned to the Administration office by Fri., Jan. 24, no later than 5 pm. 2025 is going to be an interesting year with lots of changes coming. Sun Lakes is a community that has weathered change and has proven that we are resilient. We can come together, find common ground and support each other. These traits are what make us strong and what helps this community to thrive. "We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives … not looking for f laws, but for potential." ~ Ellen Goodman Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Gary Burkel, Don Day From the Master Board
