| LIFE IN SOLERA | JANUARY 2025 | 31 Happy New Year. The holiday season is behind us, and we head into a new and glorious year full of wonder. In December, the Sunshine Club was able to bring cheer and smiles to several local charities with monetary donations for The Boys & Girls Club, Kids Cure, Senior Santa sponsored by the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, and of course, Winter Wish. We were pleased to welcome George Sinatra (yes, he is related), the Director of Resource Development at the Boys & Girls Club of the San Gorgonio Pass. George gave us a wonderful update on the success they are having and visions for the future of this wonderful organization supporting youth. The money donated will go toward the Programs with Purpose where they are teaching teens life skills. We were all very impressed. Kids Cure has several programs but the one that spoke to us is the visitation to sick children at San Gorgonio Hospital. But it's not just a visit; volunteers dress up as Superheroes to bring smiles and laughs. Senior Santa provides gift bags for seniors in local assisted living centers here in Beaumont, Banning, Yucaipa, and Calimesa. Sadly, many seniors in these facilities don't have much so bringing a gift of essentials such as socks, slippers, or a warm blanket is something the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce should be very proud of. We were certainly pleased to help. This year, the Sunshine Club had two little boys ages six and four for Winter Wish. Their wishes included anything having to do with outer space and Mickey Mouse. Shopping was completed, gifts were wrapped, and then off to the Chamber for delivery to these little guys. All of these were made possible by your recycling contributions. Please keep those donations of recyclable aluminum cans and plastic bottles such as water, juice, or tea drinks that are clearly imprinted with the words CA-CRV or CA CASH REFUND coming. They are truly impacting not only the lives of those here in Solera but also those in our local communities. If you are interested in bringing sunshine into our community, we would love to have you join our service organization. Our next meeting is Jan. 15 from 1 to 2 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room; we hope to see you there. If you have any questions, please contact Diane Coffman at (949) 295-1097. many seniors in these facilities don't have much so bringing a gift SUNSHINE CLUB Sunshine Helpers Needed! Chronic illnesses, hospitalization, and/or death can hit people hard. If you have a friend or neighbor here in Solera who needs a spark of sunshine, let members of the Sunshine Club know. For your convenience, the yellow Sunshine Box is located on the table in the Mail Room where you can drop off the information for a resident or residents who are sick or have experienced a death in the family. Sometimes just a card or telephone call will brighten someone's day immensely. Kathy Marchi, George Sinatra, and Diane Coman Winter Wish Gis
