| LIFE IN SOLERA | JANUARY 2025 | 33 Happy New Year from the coolest club on wheels. We began our December fun by decorating one of the individual club/group Christmas trees in the Solera Clubhouse hallway. Five members came out to help decorate the RV Group Christmas tree. Truth be told, three members actually decorated the tree. It took two of the guys to open the Christmas lights battery case. Good job Tony and Ron! But in the end, we had a lot of fun and ended up with a very nicely decorated Christmas tree (inset). Many thanks to our superb decorators, Joleen, Lisa and Debbie. On Dec. 15 the RV Group held its Christmas luncheon at the Mill Creek Cattle Company restaurant in nearby Mentone. We'll have a mini review and pictures in next month's magazine. In January 2025, the RV Group gets moving to nearby Quartzsite, Arizona for seven days of camping fun. We'll be there from Jan. 15 -22. The main attraction there is to attend the annual Quartzsite Sports, Vacation, and RV Show under the Big Tent. Lots of new and used RVs to check out. Under the Big Tent is a ton of vendors waiting to sell their latest gadgets and wares. There are also some great food stalls to grab a bite and give our old knees a break. Next door to the Big Tent is the Quartzsite flea market selling even more stuff, much of it RV-related. Every year my wife and I buy that widget or do-dad that we absolutely, positively must have. We plan to take a day to check out some camping sites at nearby Parker Dam. Cruising the Colorado River in a patio boat would be a great way to do some fishing and sightseeing at the same time. About forty-seven miles south of Quartzsite is the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. Some of our RV group members have been there before. It's a nice way to get away from the crowds in Quartzsite. The refuge is home to fox, deer and mountain lions. Desert tortoises, Gambel's quail, cactus wren and bighorn sheep also call the Kofa Wildlife Refuge home. We're hoping to see some of these magnificent animals. Back in Quartzsite. We'll be camped at a full hook-up RV park across the street (US-95) from the Big Tent. We'll fill our bellies at our usual group dinners, but leave a night free to go out to Silly Al's Pizza, the best pizza in town. If all this craziness sounds good to you, then please consider joining the coolest club on wheels. We have no dues and offer nothing but fun. You don't have to own an RV. Many campgrounds have camping cabins. Some campgrounds offer RVs you can rent just for your stay. We usually camp near a town, so hotel accommodations are usually available, allowing everyone to join in on the fun. Come join us. ~ Ron Monroe, (909) 732-6139 RV GROUP
