FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2025 29 Landscape Committee Landscape and Drought I have been enjoying this mild winter even as I understand that this is not necessarily a good thing. We haven't had much rain and a few news articles are starting to be published about Southern California being back in drought status. We are fortunate that in Four Seasons Beaumont, both the Landscape Committee and the HOA Board are cognizant of the effects of drought and planning for the best way to deal with the real possibility of drought in a time of the hottest temps that we've ever experienced. The installation of new modems for our irrigation system will help with the reductions in water that may occur … watering only what is needed and monitoring for corrections that may be needed. This expenditure was part of a forward looking plan that will pay off in the future to keep our community as beautiful as it was on the day you purchased your home. You may have seen purple pipes in the irrigation areas also. These are for recycled water and when the Beaumont Water District has recycled water available for irrigation, we are ready. It has also become the norm for the Landscape Committee to consider how much water plants take, when we replant or replace plants that have aged out. It's a slow process to address these aged out areas as we are also conscious about keeping HOA fees from skyrocketing. We are lucky to have so many trees in the community, that provide beauty and shade and air cleaning properties. It is the policy of the community to prune these giants in the plant world, so that each tree is at its best and healthiest. This may mean that a certain kind of tree only needs pruning every two or three years and we work in close coordination with Park West to maintain our trees. If we do not get rain this winter, we may have water restrictions mandated to us but we are working to be prepared for this. Meanwhile, I hope that you enjoy the mild weather and are able get out and take in the beautiful landscape that surrounds us at Four Seasons Beaumont. ~ Patti Pitts, pattijpitts@gmail.com Finance Committee The financial statements for November 2024 were reviewed and recommended for Board approval. In addition, the committee reviewed expenditure proposals for various recommended projects in the community. We also reviewed investment recommendations to move maturing investments to higher-yield FDIC-insured instruments. Highlights of the November financial statements are: Total Cash is $13,274,040 including operating cash of $1,999,338 (checking and CDs) and reserve assets of $10,828,046, and reconstruction assets of 446,656. Our total year-to-date current income is $108,697. Homeowners are welcome to join us at the Finance Committee's regularly scheduled monthly meetings held on the last Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 1 pm. The Finance Committee reviews and discusses many issues that you may have questions about. Residents are welcome to attend one of our meetings to become more familiar with our finances. At the beginning of each meeting, we allow three minutes per homeowner not to exceed 30 minutes in total for comments. Our meetings are held in the RCN Conference Room. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Jolene Cooley at joleneaudit@gmail.com. ~ Jolene Cooley The committee members approved the current officers to continue through December 2025: Howard Ochi, Chair; Maureen Ochi, Co-Chair; and Claudia Rozzi, Secretary. The other committee members are Steve Margulieux, Tom Olsen, Geoffrey Wilson, and Lynette Simonson; Board Liaisons are Gracy Luna and Kathy Craven; and FirstService Representative is Eric Zarr, General Manager. The committee made an inspection walk of Trail A on Jan. 6 and noted that the trail was well maintained and with very little trash. There were minor items which were brought to the attention of Eric Zarr, General Manager. As a result of the committee's report in last month's Breeze, Bill Cooper from the Birding Club met with us before our walk to express his club's desire for Trail F to be maintained because of all the birds, some of which are endemic to this area. Our next scheduled walk will be of Trail B on Feb. 5. We welcome anyone interested in participating in our walk to meet us at the entrance to Trail B on the southeast end of Green Creek Trail at 8 am. ~ Howard Ochi, hmochi47@hotmail.com Conservancy
