Our Book Club selection for Feb. 11 is e ursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. Here is a brief description from Amazon.com: In the murder mystery e ursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, PC Donna De Freitas never imagined her career in law enforcement would take off as the result of a home security lecture at a retirement village. Donna finds herself befriended by a group of four sprightly seniors who identify themselves as the Thursday Murder Club. Working partly in cooperation with and partly in competition with the police, the club members demonstrate that life experience can sometimes be more valuable than a f leet of police detectives." Our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am in RCN Room #3. All our book selections are recommended by book club members. Someone volunteers to lead the discussion about the book we have chosen for the month. Cupid appears on greeting cards amid satin hearts and chocolates. But Cupid is not the only winged being linked to February 14th. Medieval Europeans believed that many birds mated on this day, they pictured cozy pairs of doves as the epitome of love and devotion, thus the term "lovey-dovey." Lovebirds are small, colorful parrots known for forming deep, lifelong bonds with their mates, making them one of the ultimate symbols of love, devotion, and romantic commitment. The colorful lovebirds are aptly named for their snuggling behavior. They nestle close to one another, and gently preen each other's head and neck with their red bills. But it is also crucial in the lovebirds' courtship, fostering enduring bonds between the pair. I had a lovebird for a pet a few years ago named Peep. Peep was my buddy and since lovebird usually have a mate, Peep decided I was his. This bird would follow me everywhere I went in the house. I had his wings clipped (this does not hurt him) so he could not f ly high and find me but he did no matter where I was. He would sit on my shoulder and kiss me on my cheek and make a smacking noise. Even though that bird was a lot of fun, I feel he really belonged with another lovebird. I really miss his antics but now I stick to parakeets. Come out and walk the trails here with a group of bird and nature lovers. Come to The Lodge parking lot by Trail A on the first Saturday of the month at 8 am. Birds are early risers usually out looking for breakfast. It is a relaxing pastime looking up in trees and on the ground for various species of birds, possibly taking a photo or just enjoying the beautiful trails here. ~ Gerrie Karczynski (714) 363-1864 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2025 41 Birding CLUB Book Club Lovebirds.
