Limit ONE ENTRY per residence per month Welcome to February 2025 — February the month that brings to mind roses, candy hearts and love! Your choices are prime rib $28, baked salmon $22, or heart shaped chicken breast with hearts of palm and mushrooms $20. Included with the entrée: potato au gratin, mixed vegetables, Caesar salad and roll with butter. He also has plans to make at least one surprise dessert at a special price. He needs your reservation and payment in by Feb. 12, so he knows how many to cook for, and please remember your server! I am sure you are all aware of the chicken and egg shortage which is expected to last through Easter. I wonder if the Easter Bunny knows about this? I asked Francisco how many dozens of eggs he uses for our Sunday Brunch, his answer was about 2½ trays (15 dozen in a tray) at $134 a tray or a few pennies short of $9 a dozen. According to Jonathan Lanser, business columnist for Press Enterprise the average price for one dozen eggs is $8.97, that is now near $12. Jonathan says that eggs are $4.06 higher a dozen now than in January of 2023. I am so old, I remember when eggs were 20¢ each, which is not close to the 75¢ each now. Now add a couple of strips of bacon with its doubled price and you see why food prices have gone up. Francisco has not raised his catering prices for over two years, but it is probably coming. Some smart inventive people will probably start playing around with some soy powder and invent a cheaper egg or bacon. Somehow, I do not think it would satisfy me, I like real food.
