| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2025 |27 Announcing our Spring Concert on June 1, at 2 pm in Abravanel Hall. We are only a few weeks into our spring season and we have been joined by a number of new singers, who are now adding their talents to the group. e new songs we are learning are so much fun and hopefully will delight our audience. ere is still time to join the fun! New singers and supporters are always welcome. You don't have to be a singer as there are a lot of other things that are necessary to operate the Chorale and to present our concerts. Our rehearsals are on ursdays from 10:15 am until 12 pm. If you haven't joined yet, and think you might be interested, come to a rehearsal and see if it is for you. Even if you have never sung in a group before, you might really enjoy being part of such a great group of people. It's a wonderful way to make new friends – MUSIC CONNECTS US ALL. Written by Jack & Joan Shabel Choral Society Art Lovers e Art Lovers Club, very ably run by President Susan Pick, for many years, brings a special level of artistic happenings to Ocean Hills. e group meets on the third Tuesday of every month in the Clubhouse. Each month has a dierent theme, speakers, artist, and once every year, there is what is called "a treasurers meeting." It's sort of an adult show and tell. Members, and even nonmembers, bring in interesting pieces of art of all kinds. e January meeting had 16 presenters. ey brought jewelry, old photo, American Indian Art, paintings, books from the 1800s origami, and wood carvings to name a few. Each one captured the interest of the membership. On Feb. 26, the Oceanside Museum with docents, was visited and plans, on April 15, include a watercolor show at the Fallbrook Art Center. Lunch is always planned. e May 27 meeting will have an interesting speaker, and in June, the Contemporary Art Museum in La Jolla will be visited. A trip recently took the group to the Getty Museum by chartered bus. It was a very special trip. is group will always welcome suggestions from members and nonmembers as too speakers and museums. In fact, anything that would appeal to this group of ART LOVERS would be welcome. Written by Selma Leighton e Master Board has granted us a six-month trial period to showcase the work of our resident artists over the Clubhouse front desk area. Our rst display features a beautiful photograph by resident Robert Genat. We expect to change the displays frequently, so you will see an amazing variety of artistic talent. We hope that the placement of resident art in this location is well received by residents, so that we can continue to highlight the talents of our artists. In the Art Studio, we have installed a beautiful watercolor exhibit. Although anksgiving was a few months ago, the joy surrounding this exhibit continues those feelings of appreciation and gratitude! Appreciation for the willingness of Cindi DeWeese and Shellie Bean to gather residents who want to learn more about watercolor painting in a fun environment plus gratitude for the lessons learned. e skill shown in the beautiful paintings on exhibit is evidence of the talent of these artists (in alphabetic order by rst name): Andy Fulton, Bob Jones, Cindi DeWeese, Debbie Corral, Drora Oren, Kathy Kelsay, Kathy Leveck, Kim Murray, Lorraine Kleeman, Shellie Bean, and Tatis Cervantes Aiken. You'll enjoy the light, airy oral scenes as well as the graceful lines of birds, sh, and animals. All in all, the exhibit is a collection of 28 delightful watercolor paintings by a very talented group of residents! As always, we welcome Mike ornton's help with the installation. Come enjoy the display and share in the appreciation and gratitude. If you would like to continue the fun and show your painting talent, please contact the writers of this article or Mike ornton.
