14 | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | MARCH 2025 | TOPS Sends Off 2024 with a BANG: TOPS Chapter 0853 in Sun City held their annual Christmas Celebration in December. In planning the event, a discussion came about having a Christmas Gift Exchange. It was decided that we had received many Christmas gifts over the years and that we preferred to be of help to those who could use some special attention. We asked our members to supply basic need items, such as shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, bars of soap, deodorant, etc. for women in the Alternatives to Domestic Violence Shelter. When all the gifts arrived, we calculated that it was worth far more than we had anticipated. This is the true spirit of Christmas. We also had a catered Christmas lunch with all the delicious and traditional foods. The tables were set with festive decorations. There was a drawing for the centerpieces. Some of our members donated baskets to bid on, and we had a drawing for cash prizes. We had a special surprise when Sun City resident Joe (at right) came and gave a performance that had us all laughing. It was a Christmas party to remember.
