City Details Community Beautification
By Robert Karwin, bkarwin@cityofmenifee.us
Some long-awaited projects are underway in Sun City. Median
improvement and beautification on Cherry Hills Boulevard, between
Pebble Beach and Sun City Boulevard, is nearing completion.
On February 14th, work began to extend the turn pocket on
westbound median of Bradley Road on McCall (in front of Chase
bank) to allow more cars to move out of the through lanes, so traffic
will flow more smoothly. The work is expected to be completed by
the end of March. Please note that the curb in front of Chase bank
is now painted red and is a "no parking" zone. If you want to use the
ATM, you must park in the lot in the rear of the bank or risk getting
a ticket.
This summer, Sun City will be getting its first park. The design
for a 1.94 acre passive park behind the Faith Lutheran Church on
Roanoake and Portsmouth has been finalized. We are in the final
stages of property acquisition. The construction is expected to begin
this June.
Finally, I am pleased to announce that we have formed a new
Veterans and Military Families Advisory Committee. Your District
1 representative on that committee is Linda Blanche. They will be
advising the City Council on needed programs and support for not
only our veterans, but also their families who need our help when
their loved ones are deployed or gone for long periods of time. I will
update you when the meeting schedule is released.
If you have questions, comments, or concerns about the city email

City Council meetings are held at City Hall the first and third
Wednesdays of each month at 6 pm and are open to the public. You
