April Has Arrived "No Winter lasts forever, no Spring skips its turn. April is the promise that May is bound to keep." - Loren Hal Bouchard Early last month Mardi Gras was observed in the New Orleans French Quarter. e word Mardi Gras in French translates to Fat Tuesday. It is the day before Ash Wednesday, the rst day of the Easter Season (Lent) when Christians around the world refrain from any pleasures or worldly temptations. Fat Tuesday is the twenty-four hours prior to the beginning of Lent. It is lled with parades, balls, and parties. Costumes and masks, that are only allowed on Mardi Gras Day, encourage people to shed their inhibitions and be totally indulgent eating and drinking. On the next day, Ash Wednesday, Christians begin 45 days of solemn preparation for Easter, a time that oen occurs in April. Here at OHCC, on Feb. 16 some 70 Library Club members celebrated an Aernoon with Authors by listening to OHCC resident Robert Genat's sparkling presentation. I do not know how Jemc accomplished this other than by the strange magic she is very well known for by now. I loved reading this book and am sad that it is over now." (5 STARS).
