From the President, Mike Caldwell: The Club has had a busy couple of months. The major accomplishment was the relocation of the Golf Club's memorial from the "Hill with a Cross" to the bench ("The Memory Bench") near the ninth hole tee boxes (see Meredith's report under the Social Committee report). We also had a terrific winter banquet, provided free golf lessons, and initiated The Most Improved Golfer Awards. The Club continues to offer an active social calendar as well as a diverse schedule of golf games on Tuesday mornings. From the Vice President, Bob Morriss: The inter-club tournament is scheduled for May 23; it will be a four-person scramble format at Tukwet or Yucaipa golf courses. A second round of free golf lessons with Joe Tretter was offered in April, one for beginners and one for the lower handicap players. From the Secretary, Mike McLaughlin: The minutes from the General Membership meeting in March and the monthly Golf Club Board meetings are available for review. Applications for membership in the Club are available in The Lodge. The club has two types of memberships, playing members and social members (non-playing members at a reduced annual fee). If you are interested contact Blair Becker at 163blair@gmail.com. From the Social Committee Chair, Meredith Becker: "The Memory Bench" dedication was an overwhelming success. The plaques that were on the "Cross on the Hill" were replicated and placed on a new bench near the ninth hole tee boxes. The second Poker Run was scheduled to take place on Sat., April 26. "We are more than just Golf!" From the Rules Chair, Bill: Swinney: No new rules have been proposed but the Board agreed that players should use good judgment re placement of their ball lying in damaged areas. From the Greens Chair, Larry Becker: Larry reported that Ray has hired a grounds supervisor, Gil, an experienced and certified in soil management. Gils' priorities for repairs are greens and tee boxes before fairways. From the "Just When I thought that Golf Was Getting Easy," Mike McLaughlin: A friend of mine has solved every known golf problem. He has put all those solutions into one easy to read book. The author, Morse Roberts, has not released the book but has granted permission to pass along the titles of a few select chapters: • Chapter 1 - How to properly line up your fourth putt. • Chapter 2 - How to hit a Nike from the rough when you hit a Titleist from the tee. • Chapter 13 - How to let a foursome play through your twosome. • Chapter 14 - How to relax when you are hitting three off the Tee. • Chapter 15 - When to suggest swing corrections to your opponent. Hopefully, this book will help to improve your game. Submitted by Mike McLaughlin, Club Secretary 28 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2025 | Golf Club Photos by Mike McLaughlin
