| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2025 | 27 Auditions are May 16 for the June 14 performance of Drinking Habits. In Drinking Habits, a hilarious comedy, two nuns of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the struggling convent open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancées are hot on their trail. Sprinkle in additional nuns, accusations, mistaken identities and romances, and you've got a perfect, laugh- out-loud farce. Auditions for Drinking Habits will be held on Fri., May 16 at 1 pm in conjunction with our monthly meeting. There are numerous fun and rewarding opportunities to participate in the play; we will be seeking eight actors that day. Rehearsals will be held beginning Mon., May 19 from 1 to 4 pm, and continue Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 1 - 4 pm until the dress rehearsal on June 13. A brief description of the characters follows. Mother Superior has overseen the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing Covenant for many years, hates alcohol, especially wine. Somewhat wily. Sister Mary Catherine is a novice nun sent to the Convent to finish her training. Meek and timid. Sister Augusta has secretly been making wine for several years with Sister Philamena to keep the Convent open. Devout and dedicated to her calling. Joyful and humorous. Sister Philamena has secretly been making wine for several years with Sister Augusta to keep the Convent open. Devout and dedicated to her calling. Joyful and humorous. Incapable of lying. Father Chenille is a priest of the local parish next door to the Convent. Patient, understanding, and a little clumsy. George is a caretaker and gardener at the Convent. George isn't dumb, but he is a little slow. Paul is a newspaper reporter, co-worker and former fiancé of Sally. Paul is an orphan. He's a good writer, but his conscience sometimes gets in the way of his reporting. Sally is an award-winning newspaper reporter. Used to be engaged to Paul, she left him standing at the altar on their wedding day to tell an important story. Quick- witted and sometimes sharp tongued. A role can be filled by an experienced actor or anyone who has never acted before. Each interested person will be offered the chance to read a short script, perhaps having given some thought to which role(s) you might be interested in. If selected, you should be prepared to commit to participating in each rehearsal when asked, and the final production.
