| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2025 | 9 As days get longer and temperatures rise, come out and mingle with your neighbors, make new friends and participate in events you are sure to enjoy! The next "Music on the Plaza" concert is scheduled for May 20 beginning at 6 pm and features Big Revenge playing classic rock and roll dance selections. You can purchase prorated wristbands for the remainder of the concerts at The Lodge. So bring snacks, beverages, and a chair to relax under the stars and enjoy the sounds of yesterday! On May 3, you won't want to miss the opportunity to share your treasures as Four Seasons holds its annual community wide yard sale from 7 am to 4 pm (general public access to Four Seasons is from 7 am to 1 pm). The cost to participate is $25 per household and that fee covers your code compliance permit, signage, map and advertising. The Social Committee is having a FREE Scavenger Hunt on Sat., May 10 from 10 am to 1 pm. All clues refer to places within our community. You can do the hunt as an individual but it is hard to look around and drive at the same time. It is much more fun to gather friends and family and do it as a team. Clues will direct participants to various locations in each of the major tracts in our community and The Lodge. Verification of correct clue locations will be documented by taking photos and/or collecting objects. The team who returns before 1 pm with the most correct clue locations and objects will be deemed the winner. Sound like a fun time? Please sign up at The Lodge so we will have an idea of how many teams we will have. Hope to see you there. The Committee is also finalizing details for the Queen Tribute concert scheduled for Sun., June 1. If you aren't familiar with Queen, be sure and watch the movie Bohemian Rhapsody to learn about the history of this world-renowned band. Tickets are on sale now at The Lodge. In closing, as Dan Ramos leaves the Social Committee to assume his place on the Association's Board of Directors, we want to thank him for his many contributions. Not only has he been an integral part of the Committee's successful activities and programs, for the past three years he has authored the Committee's informative and entertaining Herald articles each month. We know that Dan's talents, thoughtful perspective, and dedication to the residents of Four Seasons will serve us well and that we can expect great things from him in the coming months and years. The Social Committee will miss him and is grateful for his leadership and all that he brought to the successful events of which he was such a big part! Coming soon… TGIF (May 2); Community Yard Sale (May 3); Wednesday Night Bingo (May 7, 14, 21, 28); Sunday Brunch (May 11); Music on the Plaza (May 20); Queen Tribute Concert (June 1) ; open session Board meeting (May 28). Social Committee Library Committee Welcome, May! Here's what's happening in your Four Seasons Library. Committee members work hard to make sure the library is ready for your visit. This includes processing new books, puzzles, and current magazine donations, while shelving returned materials from the return boxes at the back of the library and the special basket for puzzles in the computer room. Due to space limitations, we check copyright dates for accepting specific books — 2015 to the present for Hardcover Fiction books and 2020 to the present for Paperback Fiction books. Other books have open-ended date ranges, including Nonfiction Hard and Soft Covers, Biographies, Large Print, Classics, Religion, and New York Times #1 Bestsellers. Shirley Etemadfar, our Library Puzzle Lady, is contributing tips this month, including a picture, concerning the puzzles: "Have you been in the computer room lately? Did you realize that there are about 250 puzzles in there that you can take home and put together at your leisure? Have you tried any of them? We hope you have, and we hope you enjoyed putting them together. If you haven't, you might want to challenge yourself to try putting together a 300-piece puzzle. The pieces are larger than most of the other sizes. There are many different pictures on puzzles; find one that you'll enjoy looking at as you work on it. Animals are popular as are outdoor scenes such as farms, rivers and celebrations." "The best way to begin is to find a comfortable, well lighted location and a chair. Check the dimensions on the box to make sure the completed puzzle will fit. Dump all the pieces onto your work area, turn them face up, and locate all the pieces that have a flat edge. They will become your border. It's probably the easiest way to get started. Once you link all the border pieces together, you can then sort the remaining pieces by color or by shape. Both methods or a combination of the two will work, depending on your preference. You can use the picture on the box as a guide." Finally, "Once you've successfully completed a 300-piece puzzle, now you can easily try the 500-piece puzzles, 750, or even 1,000 pieces. Don't be intimidated by the number of pieces; they get put together the same way. They will just take longer to complete. No reason to hurry; take your time and enjoy!" ~ Shirley Etemadfar and Betty Crase
