12 12 | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | MAY 2025 | | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | MAY 2025 | We have been very busy with over 385 items donated for our recipients, which includes the 20 organizations we serve. Our membership has grown to 39 active members with more joining every week. Some of our newest members have come to us from the Hemet Guild and heard about us through other members and our very own Sun City Core Courier. We had our first in-house rummage sale and made over $325 for our treasury to buy yarn and other items we need to keep doing what we do best. Not only do we knit, crochet, loom, and cross stitch, but we also have other new crafts that our talented ladies bring in to share. Our St. Patrick's birthday event was held on the March 4 when we celebrated those who have a birthday in March. We sang Happy Birthday and played games that our Activities Director Charlotte put together. Laughter, fellowship, and snacks were plenty along with a yummy cake! There are no dues to join. We meet every Tuesday, from 11 am to 3 pm in the Civic Hall on Cherry Hills Boulevard. Please come see what we do and maybe join in our goal of helping with some comfort and hugs with the beautiful creations we donate weekly. Knitters & Crocheters At our March meeting, Arthur, from Lapidary, described how to make jewelry from beautiful stones. After his insightful discussion, Art shared his work and invited us to join the Arts and Crafts Guild. Members then painted rocks for sharing or for their yards. In April, we will be watching a demonstration on Gelli Plates and then making our own cards. In May, we will be installing officers and enjoying our end-of-year potluck. Here is our schedule: • Meetings are on the third Wednesdays of the month, from 1 to 4 pm. • The art room is open for members on Wednesdays, from 1 to 4 pm. • Thursdays, there are watercolor classes for Advanced, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and for Beginners, from 1 to 4 pm. • On the third Fridays of the month, there are Art Gatherings, from 12:30 to 4 pm.
