Ballet isn't just for the young, it's for the young at heart! If you've
ever dreamed of dancing but thought it was too late to start, think
again. Our OHCC Ballet Class is designed specifically for those of us
in our 60s, 70s and beyond who want to improve our balance, posture,
strength, and flexibility in a fun and welcoming environment. It's a
"no judgement" zone so you don't have to worry about looking like
a prima ballerina!
Our ballet teacher, Eugenia Keefer, started dancing as a
professional at age 18 and she opened her own school in 1979. She
has over 50 years of ballet experience under her belt (or should we
say under her tutu!) and has performed in numerous classic ballet
productions like Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and so much more.
Our classes are designed with comfort and accessibility in mind:
• A gentle warm-up and stretching to prepare the muscles and
body.
• Basic to intermediate ballet movements.
• A friendly, supportive atmosphere where everyone encourages
each other and moves at the pace that their body is able.
Oh, and another amazing benefit of ballet is that it is great for the
brain! Learning new skills keeps the mind sharp while the joy of
movement lifts the spirit.
Whether you're looking for a new hobby, or a fun way to stay active,
our ballet class is a perfect fit. Come dance with us and rediscover
the joy of movement! We meet every Monday morning 9 to 10:30
am in the Mykonos Room. The $10 annual dues goes to the dance
troupe, and the classes are $10 each week.
Step into something new — grace and confidence await! Written
