'BINGO' Pat Dring I waited and waited, my heart thumped like mad, I didn't know whether to be glad, or sad. Terrified my voice would leave me, and go, I still waited, each ball came out so slow, With each ball the man picked up, I thought this one will bring me luck, On and on, ball aer ball All I needed was ball B14. I could hardly breathe, I had tears in my eyes, All I needed to make that call, For $200 was one little white ball. I went to Bingo to try my luck. I hoped I' d come home with the "gold I struck." I took my daubers, my pillow and snack. I carried them all in one big pack. I went to the window to pay my fee and picked out the card meant just for me. I took my seat and sorted things out and hoped Lady Luck and I would shout! Soon it was time to start the game. People were excited and glad they came. e caller was ready and eager to go Tension was high and talking was low. I needed one number to hit the jackpot I held my breath, talk I could not. I raised my hand, ready to shout Someone yelled BINGO and that took me out! en I went home all broken and sad Worst night of Bingo I' d ever had. I' ll have my daubers, pillow and snack ready Next month for sure I' ll be back. Linda Cook, Haines City Join us to play Bingo on May 10. Sue Silva has generously donated our May theme prize funds. Written by Adele Siesel, Bingo President | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2025 | 31 BINGO Club W Club W continues to be there for those in need of comfort. It is also available to offer fun and interesting experiences. This past month, Dr. Sandra Sundell, a psychologist, who lives in the village, appeared at the March meeting. She offered general advice and answered questions from the membership. Very interesting and very helpful. Every Club W meeting tries to offer something gun, something informative and something helpful when needed. We want to be uplifting to those who have lost their spouses, either recently or some years ago. Something new has been added. Elizabeth Westwater initiated an afternoon cocktail party in the Lamia room. Members bring appetizers and drinks and have a lovely time socializing and meeting new people, one Monday a month. April's program introduced Lauriel Glover, who gave an inspirational talk about facing a genetic malady, meeting the challenge, and living a full life. And in May, the Event Chairperson, Julie Baumer, will lead the group in an interactive exercise designed to improve communication between family and friends. So don't forget folks, our meetings are the third Saturday of the month, with refreshments in the Abravanel Hall, and on the fourth Thursday, we share lunch at one of our favorite restaurants.
