10 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | MAY 2025 By Suzette Strauss, Resident I have been the president of the club since 2023 and rather by chance. I assisted Suzanne Wade when she expressed her need for help (she is seen in the picture with her quilt she called Topsy-Turvy, for the 2022 Art & Craft Faire). Little did I know she had a plan, and as we attended our Annual Club Audit with Irma Rabago, our onsite manager, Suzanne announced that she would not be the president any longer but was turning the reigns over to me. With my mouth hanging open and my mind racing, I could only look at her, and then Irma, and back to her. Well, here we are three years later, and no one has yet dared to accept to be my assistant in training… lol. It is my joy to serve. But honestly, I want to thank Suzanne for her hard work and dedication to not only the Community Craft Fair Club, but also the Quilt Club, teaching new quilters, and the Quilts of Valor (Quilts are lovingly made by the Quilt Club each year for our new resident Veterans and presented at the annual Veterans Day Luncheon hosted by the SDV Veterans and Friends Club). This is only a smidgen of the involvement of Suzanne Wade in our community, but I just wanted to say, "thank you" to her and really to everyone who volunteers to make Solera Diamond Valley such an enjoyable place to call home. If you are a potential Art & Craft Faire participant, call me at 714-906-7599. Community Craft Fair Club News By Janet Boyce, Resident There are so many clubs and groups to join in our wonderful community of Solera Diamond Valley. Outside of venues for exercise, my all-time favorite group is Wine Wednesday! We meet every Wednesday at 4:30 to enjoy a glass of wine, or any other drink of your choice, and interact with other community residents. Everyone is so friendly and positive. The men usually gather at their own separate table for "guy time", and the women congregate at three tables connected end to end, since there are usually about 15 to 20 of us. Many of us are also involved with some of the committees and other groups in our community, so we catch up on the latest happenings. We even have a board member amongst us! Everyone is so caring and always there for each other. It is truly a group to look forward to attending. We each bring our own drinks, and some dish to share potluck style. There's no planning for what to bring, but somehow, entrees, salads, snacks, and desserts are usually covered. There was one time when everyone happened to bring only desserts! However, it didn't matter because we socialize with each other, and the many different personalities are fun to enjoy. Sometimes, we plan a field trip for anyone who wants to go. A few times, it has been to one of Temecula's many wineries. A recent field trip took about 15 of us to The Grand Tradition in Fallbrook. It's a wedding venue with beautiful gardens and waterfalls. There's also a restaurant where we ate lunch. We had such an enjoyable time that we are planning to go there again! If you'd like to try out Wine Wednesday, we welcome you. It's a very informal, weekly event. Everyone is so accepting of others, and that's what I appreciate the most.
