| LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2025 | 41 GOLF CLUB March was a mixed bag for golf this year. On the 11th, we had a rain out! Yucaipa was wet and the few of us who showed up decided to take a rain check. Rod Fry and one other golfer stayed to play on a cart pat only event and finished their round in three hours. We had a gorgeous day after a cold start on March 18. Low net honors went to Stan Whitesel having a good day with a closest to the pin. Tony Smith had the other two closest to the pins. A two-man best ball event on March 25 yielded wins for 2 teams with -4 rounds — Jaime Maciel and Ernie Salvador, and Merle Chapman and Bob Umeck. They tied for 1st place in this event. A game for fewest putts was also won by the top finishers — Ernie and Merle with 30 putts. These guys braved the Championship Course at Tukwet for the wins. We got fooled by a brutally cold, windy day at Oak Valley on April 1. This low gross/low net game was played by just five golfers while the other club members competed in the first round of the club championship match play tourney. Manuel Magdaleno won the low gross with as 98, and Marty Anderson was in with a 77 for the low net. Please check the bracket sheet in the photo for the matches and first round winners. Congratulations, guys! The match play continues through to May. Golfers not in the match play tourney will play a two-man game at Yucaipa on the 8th, individual low gross/low net at Oak Valley on the 15th, then a possible away game at Eagle Falls on the 22nd. A four-man team game will round our the month on the 29th. •• ••••• • ••-€‚• Includes greens fees, cart, range balls, prizes & lunch of cheeseburgers, potato salad, baked beans, and iced tea; Prizes, 50/50 drawing, plus a poker run Sign up as a team or individually, men and women are invited.
