SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JUNE 2025 19 BILLIARDS Jona Jetter & Phillip Brealey John Brown & Pat Sivalingam Don Briggs & Rhoda Hollingquestt Don Briggs & Jona Jetter By Janet Boyce, Resident Tap dancing is a particular form of dance, choreographed with specic moves of both hands and feet. I started tap dancing lessons as a child from about the age of six to eleven. Aer a long career as a teacher, I'm back tapping! It's amazing what the brain recalls, and you become a tapper again. I moved to Solera Diamond Valley four years ago, and aer checking out many 55+ communities, the one perk that led me here was a tap dancing class, oered by one of our residents. My tap dance teacher, Pam Grider, is a very special person. Beyond the basics of "shue-ball-change", she teaches us more intricate steps, and encourages us to do our best. On top of that, she is a master baker, and brings us some of her culinary delights to share. We celebrate our birthdays, and have established a close fellowship together. You will also nd Pam involved in many other activities in our community as well. Sometimes, we perform one of our dance routines for the community. We don't charge anything — just share our love of tap, and also jazz dancing. Maybe you have enjoyed one of our performances. We love what we do, and it's great exercise to boot. I look forward to Tap Class every Monday from 2 to 3 pm in the Aerobics Room upstairs in the Lodge. Come join us; it's a lot of fun and good for your brain health too.
