Spring is in the air and with that come all the enchanting colors of the season. Why not make those colors last in a drawing or painting? The Art League wants YOU to join us. We invite our former members to return and we are always welcoming of guests. Come see who we are and what we offer; watch an artist demonstration, take a class, enjoy the friendship of other art lovers. We meet on the second Sunday of the month in the South Clubhouse. June and July are dark with no scheduled meetings or activities, but we do look forward to seeing some old and new faces on Aug. 11. Our mini art show winners for April were: 1st place, Sandy Martin with an exquisite pencil rendering of a Calla Lily. 2nd place, Marcy McCallister showed us her many talents in a mixed media suite of multi-color flowers. 3rd place, Barb Roberts who took us to a relaxing Mexican courtyard in her acrylic painting. Congratulations! Our May meeting featured the multi-talented artist, David Farrington, who demonstrated his technique and followed up with three morning classes. Those in attendance had a wonderful learning (and creating) experience. Members and guests enjoyed our annual potluck. Good food, door prizes, and entertainment by the Sun Lakes Dancers completed the evening. Dates to remember: Aug. 11, abstract/collage demonstration by our own Art League member and talented artist, Carol Cole. On Sept. 8, watercolor/ acrylic artist, Suni Godbold, will her demonstrate her technique. Both meetings will have follow-up classes. Please contact Linda Grabler at (951) 758-3142 for further information or to reserve a spot in these classes. $30 members, $35 non-members. Mark your calendars for Sept. 21 when the entire community is invited to attend our annual Art Walk in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The many talented members of the Art League will be displaying their work (for sale at the artists' discretion), there will be door prizes too. See you there! In order to keep our club designation, we need new members. Membership is only $20. For further information, please contact Helen Searcy at (951) 845-8198.
