| OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2025 |25 e Timeless Value of Live Performance Nestled within our vibrant community, the Ocean Hills Society for the Performing Arts has been a beacon of cultural enrichment, exposing audiences to a remarkable array of live performances that span decades. Over the years, this organization has brought us legendary artists who have enriched the tapestry of our entertainment, leaving indelible marks on our hearts and memories. As we turn back the pages of time, imagine the allure of Debbie Reynolds, her eervescent charm lighting up the stage, or the unforgettable crooning of Frankie Avalon. Each concert has been a eeting adventure, a kaleidoscope of talent that has transported us back to the golden eras of music and laughter. Lucie Arnaz graced our presence with her captivating performances, while the harmonious sounds of e Fih Dimension serenaded us into the night. e spirit of country music came alive with Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, whose heartwarming stories and melodies resonated deep within us. e dynamic Ben Vereen brought his unique blend of song and dance, while the Kingston Trio ignited a folk revival that le audiences humming tunes long aer the curtains fell. e New Christy Minstrels, with their engaging storytelling through song, and the nostalgia-lled Big Band sounds of e Glenn Miller Orchestra, took attendees on journeys through time, evoking fond memories and sparking new ones. en there were e Lettermen and e Four Freshmen, whose smooth harmonies created an atmosphere of camaraderie, and it would be impossible to forget the electric energy of Chubby Checker. It was February 13, 2016, when Maureen McGovern, Andrea McArdle and Donna McKechnie came together for one special night of song, laughter and memories. Oh, what a night indeed! Broadway was dynamically represented when these award-winning lms and stage stars graced our stage ON THE SAME NIGHT! All these are just a sample of the entertainers who have come to perform for us. Just recently, by popular demand, we brought back the dynamic Texas Tenors which included a potpourri of hits that spanned nearly every genre and so many decades. From Bruno to di Capua these highly acclaimed Texas gentlemen played a tune for every heart. As we reect on this rich legacy of performers, we can't help but wonder who might soon grace our stage. Could it be a burgeoning star, or perhaps a seasoned performer returning to delight us anew? As history unfolds, one thing is certain: our community remains dedicated to nurturing the performing arts. Each attendance is a statement that we value and protect this beloved expression of culture, ensuring our community continues to have access to these timeless performances just a few steps from our own front door. By supporting this non-prot, we are not just spectators; we are ALL custodians of a cultural legacy. We gather together to celebrate the joy of live performance, to share the laughter, excitement, and memories with our neighbors and friends. Let us continue this journey, eagerly awaiting the next chapter in our community's story — lled with music, dance, and the magic of the performing arts.
