Your OH Travel Club Board, Adele, Lynn, Amy, Jeannine and Callie Written by Amy Blount and approved by the Travel Club Board Travel Club Yiddish Club During the month of April, Jews all over the world came together at the Seder Table with family and friends. We at OH are no dierent. On April 17, 103 residents experienced a very special symbolic Seder sponsored by e Yiddish Club, and beautifully organized by board member, Felicity Swerdlow. e evening was so meaningful. ere were songs, lms and Torah readings and each person had their own Seder plate. ere were some beautiful moments when many of us were brought to tears. e readings were done by Marla Reiter, Karla Sando, Susan Fishman, Karena Abrams and the entire evening was conducted by Felicity. It was our second symbolic Seder and hopefully this tradition will continue for many years to come. is month we also celebrated Yom Hazikaron, Israeli Memorial Day, honoring the Israeli soldiers who lost their lives, defending the Jewish State. April continued to be special, with the performance of the published play "Goodbye memories." It was produced and written by Board member Anita Simons. e story begins on the morning Anne Frank received her infamous diary and ends when the Frank family went into hiding. e play was based on biographies from the Frank family and Anita's personal contact with Anne's three surviving friends, Hannah Goslar, Hello Silberberg and Jacque Van Maarsen. ey have all passed since the writing of the play. e cast included Abbi Hopauir as Anne along with Loretta Pfa, Robert Genat and Lois Powazek. So well done. ere was a question-and- answer period aer the performance. One of the questions was, "Should we be concerned about this book being banned, as have others in various states?" Unfortunately, the answer is yes, there is concern. ere were refreshments served aer the performance by Lorraine Steinman and her hardworking Yiddish Club helpers. Remember folks, we have a meeting in Abravanel Hall on the fourth Monday of every month. Some wonderful programs are being planned for the rest of the year. Our hard-working President, Carole Silverman, oversees it all and our Jewish Culture continues to be shared with our entire community. Written by Selma Leighton
