Supervisor's Message By Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez From the Pro Shop Respecting the Game: Dress Code, Pace of Play, and Course Care at Sun Lakes Country Club Sun Lakes Country Club is proud to uphold the traditions of golf through its commitment to etiquette, player responsibility, and course stewardship. To ensure a rst-class experience for all members and guests, the Club emphasizes three essential areas: proper dress code, pace of play, and care for the course. Pace of Play: Why It Matters Pace of play refers to the time it takes a group to complete a round of golf. While golf is not meant to be rushed, slow play can negatively impact everyone's experience. A consistent and reasonable pace keeps the course owing, ensures fairness, and makes the game more enjoyable. Tips for Improving Pace of Play: 1. BE READY TO HIT Anticipate your turn. Plan your shot and choose your club while others are playing. 2. KEEP UP WITH THE GROUP AHEAD Your place on the course is behind the group in front, not ahead of the group behind. Maintain this rhythm to avoid backups. 3. LIMIT PRACTICE SWINGS One or two practice swings are sucient. Excessive preparation can add to unnecessary time. 4. USE READY GOLF In stroke play, the player who is ready should hit rst (when safe). is simple strategy oen speeds up the round. 5. WATCH THE BALL Pay attention to where your ball and your partners' balls land. is reduces time spent searching. 6. LET FASTER PLAYERS PLAY THROUGH If you are playing as a vesome in the aernoon and see players waiting for you, allow them to play through. is helps pace of play for the rest of the course. Care for the Course: Protecting the Playground Golf courses are living landscapes that require consistent maintenance and care. Every golfer has a role in preserving the course for others and for future play. Ways to Care for the Golf Course: 1. REPAIR BALL MARKS Use a repair tool to gently x pitch marks on the green. Unrepaired marks can scar the surface and impact putting. 2. REPLACE OR FILL DIVOTS Fill the divot with sand provided by the course. is promotes quicker healing. 3. RAKE BUNKERS Always rake the sand aer your shot to smooth out footprints and club marks. Leave the bunker in good condition for the next player. 4. AVOID DAMAGING GREENS Don't drag feet or place bags on the green. Avoid standing too close to another player's putting line. 5. FOLLOW CART RULES Stay on paths when directed, observe signs, and avoid wet areas. Carts can cause long-term damage when misused. Please drive on cart paths on all par 3's. 6. DISPOSE OF TRASH PROPERLY Keep the course clean by using provided bins. Littering is not only disrespectful, it's harmful to the environment. A Shared Responsibility Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the game, pace of play and course care are responsibilities shared by all golfers. ese habits ensure that golf remains enjoyable, fair, and sustainable. ey also uphold the game's deep-rooted traditions of honor, respect, and courtesy. In essence, playing eciently and caring for the course are more than rules—they are reections of the integrity and spirit of golf itself.
