The May issue of the Herald included the announcement of our Four Seasons' newest committee: the Capital Improvements Committee (CIC). The CIC was established to assess, prioritize and recommend new capital projects that will keep us as the premier active retirement place to live in the area. We have had several brainstorming sessions looking at our community assets and identifying priority areas. We are beginning to research what other communities have done to enhance their residential amenities. In the process we will be gathering ideas that we might be able to incorporate into Four Seasons. Your voice and vision are important! We are working on developing an opinion survey to target different interests through committees and the community questions. When completed it will be available for homeowners to reply to the questionnaire. Your feedback will be essential in helping the committee and the Board prioritize projects that matter most to you. Regular updates will be provided through the Herald magazine, e-blast and the monthly Board of Directors meetings. Capital improvements not only boost community spirit and satisfaction but also contribute to increased property values. It's essential to plan for the future. This is an exciting opportunity for all of us to shape the Four Seasons together. ~ Betty Barr Capital Improvements Committee Synergy Companies Oers NO COST Energy /Water Savings & Comfort Programs Have you noticed white Synergy vans visiting your neighbors' homes? Have you wondered why they are there? Perhaps you have taken advantage of Synergy's ratepayer-funded programs, under the supervision of the California Public Utilities Commission, to make your home more comfortable while saving energy and water at NO COST to you. A very small charge is applied on everyone's monthly utility bills, called Public Purpose charges, whether you take advantage of these programs or not. If you are interested in Synergy's NO COST Programs, READ ON. Each of our utility providers offers opportunities to contain our costs, potentially mitigating ever-rising rates. Information is available on their web sites or by calling Customer Service numbers at the end of this article. SoCal Edison offers a Residential Direct Install & Smart Energy Program and SoCalGas offers a Residential Advanced Clean Energy Program. These are available at NO COST to you and are not income based. Most importantly, they are delivered by Synergy through third-party contracts without your having to contact the utilities. SoCal Edison and SoCal Gas also offer the Energy Savings Assistance Program. This program is income based and offers additional measures such as weatherization and appliances. If interested in the NO COST Synergy program, first request an In-Home Appointment with Synergy, either by completing a short form online at www.synercompanies.com or calling 800-818- 4298. An Energy Specialist will visit you in your home, complete an application and assessment with you to determine if you qualify based on income, usually about 30-60 minutes, and submit it to SoCalGas and SoCal Edison. Synergy will notify you of the utilities' decisions. If approved, a Technician appointment is scheduled. The Technician will identify the energy saving items that can be installed; written work orders will be provided after the visit. The Synergy Technician can complete some installations on that first visit. Outside door openings could receive weather stripping, smoke detectors could be replaced with new ones with 10-year batteries. Aerators in each faucet and shower heads could be replaced to save water. A regular thermostat could be replaced with a smart thermostat and HVAC optimization could be performed to prolong the life of your system to save energy. Other work could be scheduled later, such as replacing the gas water heater with a tankless electric water heater, requiring a City of Hemet permit, or additional insulation. Customers who choose to participate in this program are not obliged to purchase any additional goods or services offered by Synergy. The selection, purchase, and ownership of goods and/or services are the sole responsibility of the customer. SoCalGas and SoCal Edison make no warranty, whether express or implied Synergy was established in 1981 providing attic insulation for the San Francisco area. Now, it is an Energy and Water Efficiency Contractor that offers an array of services that have helped over a half a million Californians increase their energy efficiency and comfort in their home from Northern to Southern California. Synergy contracts with eight utility companies including SoCal Edison and SoCal Gas through programs those utilities offer.
