16 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2025 | In the June article, I referenced the beauty of the Garden Isle, Kauai. The vastness of gardens, unusual blooms, waterfalls and the vibrant colors ref lected in the spectacular gorge called Waimea Canyon often left us speechless, aware of just how magnificent God's creation truly is. Formed by the erosional action of the Waimea River, which deeply cut into the island's extensive lava and basalt fields, the colors of the canyon are due to prodigious annual rainfall. Having a unique geological history, it was formed not only by the steady process of erosion, but also by a catastrophic collapse of the volcano that created Kauai five million years ago. Yes, this makes Kauai the oldest, and first, island formed in the chain of islands known as the State of Hawai'i. Enjoy the photos! Our project of growing organic vegetables and herbs is now feeding us fresh greens daily, and our trips to the market are less frequent. I know I'm not alone when I say, "Who would have thought such great pleasure could be derived from garden to table right outside the back door?" Our July meeting will be on Mon., July 14 at 1 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. All residents are welcome to join us for meetings and excursions. Have a safe and Happy 4th of July. We look forward to coming together as a community to celebrate the birth of our nation. Late Bloomers Garden Club Needle Me Welcome to all the newbies in the community! If you have not already done so, I hope you are planning to attend one of the Welcome Home events to learn about the community in general, as well as some of the various activities and clubs that Four Seasons has to offer. One of those clubs is the Needle Me Group. We are a group of ladies who enjoy various needlecrafts, and we would like to invite you to stop by sometime to find out what the group is all about. We meet on the first and fourth Friday of each month in the Arts & Crafts Room at 1 pm. We welcome anyone to stop by and see what the ladies are working on, or perhaps bring a sample of your own handiwork to show off. We love to socialize while our hands are working. If you have any questions or would like more information, please get in touch with Bobbie Davis at (951) 223-3836 or Merilyn Burnside at (323) 889-4281. Happy Fourth of July!
