From the President, Mike Caldwell: The Tournament Chair is a very challenging position that requires enormous amounts of patience and time as well as a wealth of golf knowledge. Elliott Yaeger does an amazing job. Debra Kosaka fills in for Elliott when he is out of town. She also does an amazing job and fills in seamlessly and keeps the games moving smoothly along! Our super sub! The Memorial Tournament Eclectic Results: Winners are Bob Levesque, Dennis James, and Irene Becker. From the Vice President, Bob Morriss: On June 26, the Hemet Four Seasons Golf Club was scheduled to play the Murrieta KHOV Golf Team. The format was to be a Ryder Cup Format (two players from each team will play six holes of best ball, six holes of scramble, and six holes of alternate shot). The Club also sent an email to the KHOV Community in Buckeye, Arizona, VERADP and asked them to join us in our KHOV Tournaments as part of our effort to expand to additional KHOV communities. In April, the club gained two new members: Rick Grimm and Larry Sandberg. Applications for membership in the Club are available in The Lodge. The club has two types of memberships, playing members and social members (non-playing members at a reduced annual fee). If you are interested, please contact Blair Becker: 163blair@gmail.com. From the Social Committee Chair, Meredith Becker: Things have quieted down for a few months, but get ready for our BBQ on Sat., Aug. 2 at The Lodge BBQ area… bathing suits are allowed. Tickets will go on sale for $5 per person in July. From Handicap Chair, Debbie James: The Board discussed sandbagging (purposely scoring high in non-tournament games to gain an advantage in tournaments), and the consensus was that it does not appear to be a problem. From Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: The applicable rules that apply to balls hit into reeds on hole nine play as a free drop and hole 18 play as a penalty area. From Greens Chair, Larry Becker: The Hemet Golf Course is making progress on improvements to the course, especially the tee boxes and selected sand traps. From the "Just When I thought that Golf Was Getting Easy," Mike McLaughlin: I really do not mean to pick on Blair Becker, but he keeps providing such good material that I cannot pass it up! A couple of weeks ago Blair was playing the best score per hole over two rounds. He got a 10 on the thirteenth hole (a par five) during the first round. During his second round he managed to cut four or five shots off his previous round and was feeling rather good about his chances as he approached the thirteenth hole. Well, "just when you think" started to raise its ugly head, he shot an ELEVEN on the second round and finished ONE stroke off first place. The martinis flowed later that afternoon.
