| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2025 |25 Summer is going well, and we are all resting our voices for our upcoming concert in December. Rehearsals for the concert are beginning on Thurs., Sept. 11 at 10:15 am until 12 noon in Abravanel Hall. Only six weeks from now and I think the Chorale is anxious to get started. I know I am. Meanwhile, we have scheduled a guest concert for Mon., Sept. 29 at 6:30pm in the Hall. Our artists will be The Rolf Olsen Jazz Quartet. The Rolf Olsen Quartet plays a wide range of jazz and Latin music. Their repertoire includes everything from well-known standards to more obscure jazz compositions as well as modern jazz styles, swing music, the bebop music of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie and the post-bop music of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. So, if you like contemporary jazz, please plan on joining us. Information on purchasing tickets should be coming soon if it has not already happened. If you'd like to see what being in the Chorale is all about, you're welcome to attend our rehearsals. In addition, we appreciate the backstage helpers whose efforts are so valuable to the success of the Chorale. The website for the Choral Society is http://ohchorale.wixsite.com/ohchorale. It is also available on the Ocean Hills Country Club website. Scan the QR code and it will also take you to the website. Written by Jack Shabel Choral Society We hope you were able to come and see the Jim Curry Show! He flooded Abravanel Hall with his dazzling country boy charm. You might say he took us home, to the place where we belong. We were reminded of the power of song to connect and uplift. From Annie's Song to Calypso to Grandma's Feather Bed, we were serenaded on themes of love, nature and nostalgia. The incredible performance, emotional lyrics, and dedication to preserving Denver's legacy made it a night to remember. A fun fact: The rights to the song, Take Me Home Country Road, were purchased by the state of West Virginia (aka Mountain Mama). The state paid $95,000 to use this song for the first year of their tourism campaign. Did you know that you now may advertise for your business in our programs? With just one ad you will reach over 450 people. If you're interested, call Judy Harris (760) 685-1969 for more details. Our next show is coming up on Nov. 8, "The Sweet Caroline Tour" starring Jay White. During the last three decades, Jay White has performed more than 10,000 concerts around the world reflecting the talent and charisma of one of America's great performers, Neil Diamond. As we write this article, he'll be singing to a sold-out house in Las Vegas. Ticket sales begin on Oct. 7 at 8:30 am in Abravanel Hall. Tickets are $30 each. We hope to see you there! Last but not least, everyone has the opportunity to become a *Star Donor. No waiting in line, AND you get the best seats in the house for all three shows in 2026. Not to mention the wonderful feeling of knowing that you are doing something that will benefit your community for many years to come! At $500 per person, it's an investment of which you can be proud. If you are interested in becoming a *Star Donor, please contact Sandy Stewart (thestewarts6723@gmail.com). Written by the OHSPA Board ocean Hills Society for the Performing Arts
