42 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2025 | The OHCC MahJongg Club facilitates social interaction amongst MahJongg players. MahJongg is a table game played with tiles. It is common for a small group of four or five players to establish a routine time to come together for a couple of hours in a home. OHCC has upwards of 130 MahJongg players who play on a scheduled basis. With such a large number of residents who play this game, time is set aside several times a year to come together in a larger forum. These events enable MahJongg players the opportunity to meet other MahJongg players that live in OHCC. Meeting other players affords each member the opportunity to make new friends and enjoy the company of many people with a similar interest. With the support of volunteers, the club offers classes to teach OHCC residents how to play American or Chinese MahJongg. The club works to provide a friendly social setting for fun and competition. A Website is provided which addresses frequently asked questions and a listing of club members interested in subbing in a game. Inquire at the clubhouse if you are interested in taking a basic class or joining the Club. MahJ On! Written by Dawn Edwards Mahjongg Club RV Club We had a blast at our 3rd Annual Happy Hour Party "Chillin' with the Band at the Fiesta" in May. Take a look at the colorful clothing and decor. There was plenty of food and fun. Thanks to our RV Band consisting of Lawrence Aiken, Brad Davidson, Janie Arens, Tim Griffin and Keith Thompson, the music never stopped! "They are awesome" - was the comment I heard so often. It was great to see so many of our members smiling and dancing to the beat. Great food, great fun, great friends! Several of the Club members recently returned from a 30- day, 2500-mile travel adventure to Northern California and Oregon. Oregon is a state known for its rugged coastline, with beaches, cliffs and the famous Oregon Dunes. There are towering mountains, volcanoes and lush forests with Douglas Fir and the majestic Redwoods thanks to plentiful rainfall. Wagon Masters Skip and Sandy Harvey, Ric and Barbara DuDeck, John and Julie Pashkowsky guided the group through unforgettable sites and memories. Staying at nine separate RV parks plus most had four more nights traveling to our destination and returning home. The trip was described as action-packed with catered theme dinners, BBQ's, camp stories, happy hours, games, group restaurant meals and an ice cream social. Activities included visiting Lassen National Park, Burney Falls State Park, junk art, scale train rides, Crater Lake National Park, State Logging Museum, Newberry Volcanic National Monument and Historic Tour of Bend, Oregon. The scenic byways were spectacular, visiting the High Desert Museum fun and interesting and the views of waterfalls incredible. Then there was the Discovery Boat Tour, Cape Perpetua State Park, Tillamook Cheese tour, sand /buggy rides, jet boats on the Rogue River and the beauty of Redwood National Park. And what trip would be without a Shakespeare play, a tour of a plywood plant and Harry and David followed by a private dinner cruise on Lake Shasta. Some stayed an extra day to use Sea Doo's or a pontoon boat on Shasta Lake and see the Sun Dial Bridge. Trips like these are what RVing is all about and what memories are made of.
