| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2025 | 29 The wait is over! The Golf Cart Parade came to a neighborhood close to you on the morning of the Fourth of July. The parade is always a lot of fun. It was a "most excellent" time to chat with friends and neighbors. Donna McLaughlin (who also decorated the roundabout with a big assist from Tim) and Debbi Frazier and daughter, Emille and granddaughter, Lily were the super hostesses. We had a terrific turnout by the cart owners! The parade took exactly 45 minutes thanks to the expert lead cart drivers, Cecil Frasier and his granddaughter, Lily; she was everywhere! Whether you participated in the parade or cheered them along as they drove by your house, we all enjoyed in a bit of Americana. Flag Angels: The Flag Angels also have been very busy over the last two months. They posted flags four times. That is a lot of flags (about 6,0000 up and 5,998 down)! About two years ago I started to highlight each of the "Flag Angels" in the Herald. I also pointed out a common characteristic that all Angels seem to share: the level of involvement in the community. They put up and take down a staggering 13,000 flags throughout the year. This month's Angel is Shirley Etemadfar. She is a new Angel, just over two years. She and her partner Victoria Stedemann (highlighted last month) jumped in from the substitute list with no hesitation and are doing a super job! She is the co-chair of the Library Committee. A bit of fun trivia about Shirley is that she is a ukulele aficionado and plays with a group in Murietta. She has been a resident since 2018, moving from Novato in Northern California. She places flags throughout the east half of the Stehenson cul de sac streets. The next time you see Shirley, give her a well-deserved "thank you!" The Flag Angels ranks are constantly changing. We have lost a number of angels due to assorted reasons. I have been able to replace those angels because substitutes volunteered to take a route full time (Shirley for example). If anyone is interested in being a Flag Angel, I could still use a volunteer or two as substitutes. This month Brice and Denise Sunderland pitched in and took a route with over 20 cans! Their "how can we help" attitude is spectacular.
