QUILTERS
Recently, the Solera quilters shared their favorite quilts (above). With so many choices,
it was hard to pick just one. It was also wonderful to hear all the stories connected to these
amazing quilts. One in particular was a showstopper. Our newest member, Diana Bedwell,
shared a large embroidered quilt (at right). She and her mother each made the same quilt in
different colors. It took over a year to finish them. Now that her mother has passed away,
the quilt holds especially loving memories. The picture doesn't do it justice. It won Best In
Show at a quilt show for both piecing and quilting. Truly spectacular! Well done to all our
lovely ladies!
You always receive
a smile and warm
conversation when
you meet our Knit
and Crochet member,
Shirley Slick. She is
a treasure to many
here in Solera, as
she belongs to several groups and is a regular at our meetings.
Shirley is showing off her latest cross-stitch project, a Christmas
stocking she is making for her newest great-grandchild who lives
in Iowa. Her cross-stitch stocking journey started with her sons,
their wives, her grandchildren, and their spouses, and now her
great-grandchildren are the recipients of these stockings that take
many weeks to make but will surely become family heirlooms.
Shirley estimates she has completed over a dozen of these works
of art, each with a different pattern.
Knit and Crochet is one of the smaller groups here at Solera,
and if you're into any kind of yarn hobby, come check us out on
Thursday mornings. We'd love to meet you.
