| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2025 | 35
As I look back on August and remember the heat and how
few of us braved the conditions, I also recall sitting indoors and
watching hours of professional tennis. ere were men playing
in Toronto, Canada, and women competing in Montreal, Canada.
Congratulations to Ben Shelton from the USA for winning the
men's title in Toronto, and congratulations to Victoria Mboko
from Canada for winning the women's tournament. Neither of
these players had ever won a Masters 1000 tournament before!
Later, some of us watched the Cincinnati Open. For most
players, it serves as a qualier for the US Open, which started
August 24th and runs until September 7th. If you get a chance,
please watch some of the top players compete at their best.
We are still trying to start tennis sessions here in Solera at 7:30
a.m. on Tuesdays, ursdays, and Fridays until it cools down a
bit.
Everyone is welcome! We would love to see new people come
out and join us. If you just want to nd a hitting partner, please
call Shirley Ferguson at (909) 816-0612. We have men and women
ready to hit with you if you want to try it out rst. See you on the
courts! ~ Shirley Ferguson
